Bandista 7,466 Posted November 4, 2013 Have you been through the process and just waiting for a date? 1 mrsto reacted to this
mrsto 2,925 Posted November 4, 2013 If you've already been through the complete approval and pre-op screening process, three weeks should be more than enough to be back on your feet. You will just need to be prepared for the post-op diet limitations, and plan accordingly with your school schedule. The best of luck to you! 1 Bandista reacted to this

x07lilsunshinex 4 Posted November 24, 2013 Welp my doctor said the band would be a good idea for me and I would be unhappy with the outcome he wants me to get the sleeve and lose 20 pounds
gowalking 10,790 Posted November 24, 2013 Make sure you get the WLS that is best for you. Lot's of doctors are moving away from the band because the money is better with the sleeve, and less post op care. That doesn't mean you should do it though. Get as much information as possible about all surgeries and then go with what you are comfortable with. Most bandsters go that route because it's the least invasive of the procedures. I myself am banded for that very reason and I needed to lose more than 100 lbs. In less than one year, I'm close to my weight loss goal and have met other goals already such as getting off my BP meds, and just recently, buying clothes in the misses department and not plus size. Good luck with whatever you decide.

That's the only surgery I would consider after being told that I would lose 75.% of my stomach. I was not a candidate for bypass surgery. I was afraid of bypass surgery as well eventhough I did not qualify for it. I'm very happy with the band. Banded on 12/28/12.

It's too bad that some surgeons are taking the fast, easy way with WLS. I can't believe that they don't want to offer all of the best possible options to their patients. Limiting the options to just a couple of surgeries is, in my opinion headed for disaster. Everyone is different... I chose my band for a long list of good reasons that apply to me after I thoroughly researched all of the options. We all should be able to do the same, health concerns allowing. Our bodies, our health care, our choice. Not what is the best choice for a surgeon trying to "push" a particular procedure for their own financial gain and convenience.
