I just had my final round of pre-tests and am now waiting for insurance approval and a surgery date. I want to use the time to find some liquid or chewable vitamins that I will like. I am guessing that right after surgery liquid is the best way to go and then I wiil be able to switch to chewable. I already have a chewable Gummy Multivitamin that is no problem, so I am really looking for a liquid multivitamin. Many reviews say they taste terrible, but I guess everyone has different tastes. Any recommendations?

My surgeon said the chewables would be ok even in the immediate post-op period. I'm thankful for that too because the liquid vitamins smell AWFUL. I gag every time I have to give that stuff to a patient so I don't think I'd be able to get past that to try to choke it down myself.

I buy most of mine from Bariatric Advantage. They are for WLS people. The prices are great, 90 day supplies. I buy at Target chewable fish oil gummies and I also have chewable Fiber supplements. Yes I take about 12-15 chewables a day but I have them before I have my morning Protein Shake.< /p>

Good luck with your journey.

I'm currently taking Celebrate chewable Multivitamins, which are a bariatric brand. They're decent, and have a lot more in them than any Gummy I've seen. I take liquid Calcium, which is pretty good. The brand is Solgar, which I get at the Vitamin Shoppe......strawberry flavored.

How bad are the fish oil gummies? I need to get some of those too but am afraid of the taste.

gummies really aren't ideal for lap band patients because if it gets stuck it can't disolve easily. Also I was told my my Nut that bariatric Vitamins are no different than non-bariatric vitamins, just a marketing thing. I take one children's chewable from costco (Kirkland) and one Vitamin is a serving for an adult. You will be able to mash it to dust after surgery and take it with your fluids if you take bites of it, that's what I did. The jar is huge and cheap.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
