Had my first evaluation today. Saw the dietician and the patient advocate. Starting tomorrow I have to journal everything I eat and drink. I have 2 more visits with the dietician and I'll get my surgery date! I'm looking to be banded at the end of January. By the way I have to have a EJD on 11/13 to see how big my hiatal hernia is. (Didn't know I had one) anyway Darling Hubby is with me every step of the way. I can't believe how fast this is going to go!

Congratulations for starting this wonderful journey. The best part, your husband's support!! My husband was/is with me 100% and that really helps.

So happy for you, Starfish -- that is great news. And great you have that support at home. Me, too, though I didn't let him come to any of my appointments as I don't want him to know how fat I am. Isn't that ridiculous? I can't wait to weigh less than him -- that will feel so good!

Lady Diva, I'm going to add you on MFP. I am sabinadublin there........might already have you -- still figuring it all out but great to be tracking exercise and calories with a group of banders. Starfish I don't think I have you there, do I?

Happy Friday every one!

keep thinking/being positive...its great you got a hub to help you...i know i would not have had it

as well as i have without mine...One of the most rewarding days on your journey will be the day you look back at today and say, “That used to be so hard, now it’s a piece of cake.”

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
