Hey everyone! Sorry I've been MIA lately. A lot going on - both good and bad. That's life I suppose!

But Dianne - you are doing GREAT! I took 3 percocets every 3-4 hours the first week after surgery. That surgery is VERY painful, so take your meds! That's what they're there for! Feel free to pm me with any personal questions if you have them. It's been 14 years since my operation, but I remember it like yesterday. lol

Hi to Cindy, Kat, Betty, Beanie, Darcy, Eileen and everyone else!!

Hi, just a quick stop tonight...

Haven's friend, Karley, is here, and they are both in the living room with me. Go figure. I guess when you're 9 and 10, hanging out with Mom is still fun. I've gotta figure out a way to get them out of the living room....LOL!

FIL moved into his studio apartment today. We all went over this morning I hung out in the reclyner, then we went to Outback. Over all I've felt ok today but I sure can't push a cart in the grocery store, drive, blow dry my hair carry my purse or poor my self a glass of milk yet!

Chrispy-Thanks! I've been taking Propoxyphene every 4 hours except for today. I have pnly taken 3 so far. But the fact that you took them for a straight week doesn't make me feel so bad about taking them. They do help! I will PM you tomorrow with some questions!

Have a good night

My scale said 159 today, but I am going to wait until it has said that for a few days before I change my ticker. I haven't seen under 160 since I was 19. I had a very nice day today. I bought some shirts at the Disney store today for $5, they were short sleeve tops with various characters on them, we all got a few new shirts today. I also had a nice lunch with my mom and step-dad at Ruby Tuesdays. I had a white chicken chili and a salad bar. My salad was a bandster salad, cheese, boiled eggs (chopped) some sun flower seeds and avacado ranch dressing. It was great and so was the Soup. I passed on the garlic bread but that was hard to do. I am still full but made chicken pot pies for the family for dinner, they were good too. :welldoneclap: I am going to have mine later. My new fridge will be here tomorrow afternoon, we are running the Water lines tonight so the ice and water can be connected. They want to charge me $100 to run the lines, but the holes are already cut in the cabinets, so I am going to do it myself. There was an ice maker in my current fridge before I moved here, but the last people that rented the place took it when they left. So there was a line ran when we moved in but it was plastic and had mildew in it. I bought copper so it should last forever, or at least as long as we live here. I did some major cleaning today, laundry, dishes, and I vaccumed the entire house. I hate to vaccum, I usually bribe Dave with food in exchange for not having to vaccum. I am going to clean the carpets this week and as soon as it is warm enough to open the windows I am going to paint the kitchen and living room. I will catch up with everyone later. Hope everyone had a great weekend. ~Mandy

Hey,

I posted last night, but it's not here....hmmmm.

I wished you luck, Mandy, with getting your fridge installed...I bet your kitchen is going to look fantastic! I think the colors sound great!

Dianne, I hope you are resting while you are healing...getting around is good, too...not too much, though, sweetie!

My girls are up playing hide and seek...they ended up in the bed with me, what a surprise. The housepainters have checked in, they are going to powerwash, but had to leave and get a part for their equipment. Unfortunately for the painting, but fortunately for Texas, it is supposed to rain, so our project will most likely experience delays. Isn't that always how it is?

Well, tonight is the Josh Groban concert...I bet it's going to be good. Not as good as Aerosmith or Steely Dan, but good in a different way, if ya know what I mean.

See ya later,

Cindy

Hey All

Another glorious day in Mtg Lending... with nothing to do. I forwarded my resume to my old co-worker on Friday and he is sending it to the people who hire. So, I will at least hear the spiel from them.

My DH is still sick - he about scared the pants off me this morning. I was just running through the bedroom to grab my clothes so I could run out the door when he started babbling about hotels and porn pictures and being a bit outraged because "We are a family. You can't do that to a family". Understand me - it came out of the blue at me, just like this. I had NO idea what the heck he was talking about.

Then he started to go on about computer hackers and how everybody was working on the problem but nobody could figure it out. OK - now I was really worried. When I got him to look at me and told him to tell me my name, he looked at ME like I was crazy and did in fact repeat my name. Apparently, my DH got up in the night and was watching the news. Is there some story about a Hotel flashing porn on the TV where kids could see it?

The computer hacker thing was an episode of Invader Zim - but these key bits of information were left out when he started talking. I was reassured enough to come to work - but I am still worried.

The good news is that he was able to keep a little food down last night and his fever has dropped a degree overall - he has been beloww 102 more than above for the last 24 hours.

The BAD news is that at this moment, my forehead feels a bit warm. I am taking my Vitamins as we speak and I will be headed for home, shortly.

Cindy - you are correct. Arms first, then belly & thighs for me. I have to be careful what shirt I wear, right now, or my floppy bat wings hang out in the MOST attractive *snort* way... And I forgot about Corned Beef - heck, I even forgot St. Paddy's Day all together. I was a little busy. :] Did you post again after you said Haven & her friend were hanging out with you? Computer weirdness for sure.

Eileenie - I ended up going over to my SIL's house to visit with the herd of in-laws. It was nice to see them - but I was sad that DH couldn't see his DS. Corned Beef? I love that stuff - with Cabbage & Onions. Mmmmmm.

Mandy - Hope you love the new fridge. That filtered Water is the BEST. :] And 159 is so below my goal! WTG!!! Hope it sticks and you can feel free to change your ticker. Have fun with the home decorating!

Kat - Thanks for understanding. I really believe I should switch to teaching, though. I know it's a labor of love and that it will be hard work - but I also know that the older I get, the less tolerant I am of this mortgage crap. It seems like there is a new layer of regulation added every day... and more and more fraud to fight. I know teaching will have it's own set of layers of crap - but that will be new to me... maybe I won't burn out on that for another 15 yrs... That will get me a lot closer to retirment without melting down. Some days, I feel that if I stay in this business any longer, I will surely explode. So, I guess I will see about staying employed in this business for a while - but take the teacher training stuff on evenings and weekends. I don't think I can keep this mortgage thing up until I reach 65 or 72 or whatever the retirement age is by the time I get there.

Betty - my roses are all budding, too. Spring has sprung. I have a pansy blooming in a pot on my deck. I love living in TX.

Sherry - I totally understand the vegatative state, thing. Been there, done that. Besides, it sounds like your free time is filled with life-enriching activity - so don't fret about us! My DH has the same as yours had - no coughing or sinus - but everything else. I am not looking forward to it!

Deb - Sugar is bad. Sugar is the root of all evil. Don't let them try to tell you that money is - it's sugar, I tell you! LOL! Sorry you feel poorly. And don't fret about the 2 lbs. Unless you have had more than one day of badness, you are probably just retaining water from eating all the junk. Get back on plan and those pounds will vanish quickly. Hugs!

Chrispy - I surely hope the good outweighs the bad. Fill us in when you get a few minutes. Hugs!!

Dianne - Hope you are starting to feel better! Let somebody else push the cart and be sure to take your pain meds. No need for a stiff upper lip when you are healing up from surgery. :]

Well, speaking of no need for a stiff upper lip - I am heading out. I can't see any point in staying here when I am going down fast.

If I don't check in for a few days, it is because I am home in bed. Keep those Monkeys aside to chase after Pat & Patty.

Love & Hugs to all.

Hello New Jersey girls,

Can I come back to the chat?

A whole bunch of stuff came at me all at once: from nearly losing my job(Jan), an evicition notice(Feb) and my insurance troubles(current).... I still don't have a date for surgery and the clock is ticking. My cobra runs out on May 11th. I am determined to have my approval before the week ends and notified my attorney today to kick some serious butt so that I can get my approval and can set a real surgery date. My bags are packed. I have read just a few pages of March's chat and see that you all have been real busy and some of you have made some body changes. Very exciting. Soooo, I apologize for just dropping off the face of the earth. It was necessary. The only reason I am posting today was yet another one of my mini meltdowns and decided to take a mental health day and stay home. Thanks for listening.

Hugs,

Hi girls-

Quick note to let you know we once again spent the day, evening, and on into the early morning hours today in the hospital. Remember last month when I told you Rick choked at the restaraunt, and I had to heimlich him? Well it happen again. He was at his folks working on a van for them, and he took a bite of chicken, and it stuck. He knew they couldn't heimlich him---and he managed to jump up and down and move around to where he could breath, but it was still stuck. He slimed, just like we do! I got there not long after it happen, and he was still having problems. He simply could not swallow. Anything he swallowed, come right back up. So off we went to the ER. He could breath just fine, it was stuck in the esophagus. They gave him something called glucogon, to dilate the esophagus, no response, then they gave him nitroglycerin for the same---all if did was make him sick to his stomach, and his body would heave to throw up, but it couldn't get past the blockage. Finally after 10 they took him to scope him. This was VERY scary to me, last time he damn near died during the scope. But they found the offending bite of chicken ( a small bite even), about 40 cm.'s down. They tried for over 2 hours to move it, up or down, and the esophagus was spasmed---and it would not move. Finally they cut it while it was in his esophagus, and got it removed. The scope shows serious esophageal damage. Most likely caused by the balloons they used to tampenade off the blood flow during the GI bleed. They put him on new meds, along with Nexium, and in about a month they are going to try to dilate the esophagus. Another scary evening in the ER!!! I finally got him home about 3 this morning. We took it very easy today---he is on liquids. I told him welcome to bandster hell!!! He was very serious, and told me if I hurt like that when I get stuck, it is not worth it, to have the band removed! I tried to tell him, mine is short lived, and not fully in the esophagus like his. BUT....I know for a fact, he has new respect for the band and the sliming!!!

I will try to get back and get some personals done---glad to see Patty post, and know her boys are ok. Hugs to everyone!!!

Kat

Hi all, I managed to actually get a nights sleep last night. The first in a LOOOOOONG time. It feels good to actually be rested. I have a meeting today with the Psych group that Abi has been working with at 2 today. I have to make a list of things that I really want to accomplish with the remainder of the program. I have some of the list made, but there are so many things that Abi struggles with I just don't know where to start. We have also been told that follow-up counseling would be a good plan for our family. The parents of bi-polar kids support group is a good start, and there are plans to get Abi into a group program that is just for smaller kids. One problem with this program is it is mostly older kids (10-12 range) and the information they present is a bit over her head sometimes. Yesterday they covered anger management and she seemed fairly well balnced when she got home last night. When they talked about violence in the home she was confused, she is more of a door slamming screamer then a physically violent person, but it was quickly getting there. She was ready to throw a shoe at me last week when I told her to really think about what that would accomplish, she put the shoe down and slammed her bedroom door instead. I just want to have my happy child back, she is so angry all the time it worries me. There is a girl (12) in the program that attemted suicide a week ago, I want to get Abi help before it gets to that point. The mom said she never saw any signs at all, her daughter has always been angry just like Abi. She says she wishes she had gotten help 7 years ago, like we are, so maybe this really is the right thing to do. I will check in after the big meeting. ~Mandy

Hey Gals...

Patty... I have been beggin for news on you... so glad to see your post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sorry you are having a rough time of it... hope the eviction notice situation has been taken care of as well as the job problems. Praying for your surgery date and knowing that it will happen! (((hugs))) So glad to see you back. :welldoneclap:

Kat... Yikers! How frightening! I am such a chicken (no pun intended) that I would be a Soup and soft food eater forever and ever amen if there was the slightest chance that I would choke like your hubby. Glad he is okay!

Sherry... Love ya girl... thanks so much for sharing your positive ways... it's so easy to get caught up in the stressful parts of life and forget to Celebrate and share the happy moments and I really appreciate how you remind me of this by example... you rock!

Irene... Hmmmm... Kind of freaky with your fella. It really can be dangerous for adults to run temps that high... keep your eye on that fella and sure hope you are not coming down with it!

Mary... So good to see you too... have missed you!

Dianne... Hope the pain meds are good and the girls are heling up quickly!

Betty... Glad you didn't get blown away in the storms! It was a beautiful weekend for us and we spent the day maple syruping up at the Sis's cabin. I love standing in the maple scented steam that comes off the boiling sap!

Deb... It really sounds like you need an unfill. Take it from me... being over-filled does not always lead to weight-loss. It lead to weight gain for me as I finally started replacing real food with high calorie liquids because I was HUNGRY!!!!! Take care and consider a weensie unfill. (((hugs)))

CIndy...(((hugs)))

My sister is starting a business and this might perhaps solve my job search issues. I still will be submitting apps for nursing positions but would prefer something that will allow me to be active with my daughter's activities. FIL is feeling better but will be starting radiation and chemo next week. He is in for quite a rough road and is turning away help now so we are backing off. We will continue to offer... the rest is up to him.

Haven't been on my treadmill very much... time to get myself moving again! I did get on yesterday. Went and chopped my hair off too... AHHHHHHHHHHHH... why did I wait so long???? :Banane20:

Hi guys!

So much going on!

Hey, Patty! I'm just glad to see your face, and hear what's going on with you! No permission ever needed to rejoin us here in the chat thread...so glad you stopped in. And, so sorry to hear of the troubles you are having. I will continue prayer for you and your surgery, and the well-being of your family. Don't feel like you have to do personals all the time if it's too much; just post what's going on, and let us know.

Beanie, I'm sith Darcy on this one...check on your DH's cognitive state...that high fever plus lack of sleep plus meds could be trouble. It would freak me out too. I guess you are still going to put some thought to your career path, which is good. You'll know when you have the answer that is best for you.

Kat, what in the world...your poor DH, and YOU! How is he doing tonight? He's going to need to read a copy of the bandster rules...small bites and time between bites; and we know how hard they are to follow. So sorry you are going through all this again, but hope he is doing well now. Take care of yourself, too...that's important!

Mary, how fun to plan a surprise trip! Let us know what you have cookin' for that!

Deb - seriously, check out that fill, and see if you need to back off on that. Sometimes slower really IS faster...sounds weird, but it is sometimes true.

Darcy - hope your FIL gets a grip on his issues...I know it is such a struggle for the family. What is the situation on your sister's business? Sounds interesting. You're still treading heads and tails above all of us in the exercise dept., you know. I just wear the pedometer, and tally all of that up.

Mandy, did you change your ticker? On my screen, it is showing up with a little red x. 159! Yahoo! I only dream of that...but some of my dreams have come true already, so maybe that one will too, who knows? I hope your meeting went well this afternoon, and I think we all agree that you have made a great decision in intervening early. You are very wise. I think you are blessed with clear vision, and the ability to take action, and that is indeed rare in this world. Let us know how it went, okay?

I have an NSV to report...strangely enough, even though I am stuck like chuck at 202 lbs, my body is definitely shrinking/changing...today, I pulled out a t-shirt I bought a few months ago, and couldn't wear, because it was skin tight. Today, slipped it right on, and it fits perfectly! Get this, it's a Junior size 17. It makes me laugh, just thinking about it. You may ask, why is this older lady buying junior clothes...well, it has Tinkerbell on it, and it's for the trip this summer...LOL!

For Deb, who's a little "newer" than the rest of us...even when the scales don't move, your body still changes. I swear it is true!

Betty, how's it going, lady? Are you working and working? Are the roses blooming? We don't have roses blooming yet, but irises and tulips are out!

Eileen, nice to see a long post from you! ((hugs))

Love all of you...Sherry, Chrispy, and Dianne...and anyone else I missed!

Cindy

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
