Sounds typical....I'm glad your Dr. is practical and did not get upset about you not losing weight before the band actually starts to do it's job, and realizing it is about healing and getting back to normal at this point...after an adjustment or 2 things will begin to change and your journey will begin in earnest.......my Dr. and I both agree, if I could loose weight by dieting without the band, why go through all the surgery in the first place....

Debbie, Debbie, Debbie...Thanks so much for posting this! I was starting to think I wasn't doing so hot as I haven't really lost any weight. I am glad to read that this time after the band has been placed is all about the healing. Thanks also for describing the appointment in detail, I was worried about what my first fill would be like. I'm so happy to know that it won't be as terrible as I was thinking. I'm a big baby when it comes to needles also. Thanks again!

You are so welcome!! It makes me feel great to know that I can help someone else with this journey! This was the reason I started my blog posts. I couldn't find anything out there that explained in detail the good, the bad and the ugly of the lap band lifestyle. I am hoping by sharing my experiences that along with helping me understand my thoughts and feelings, I can assist others with this great adventure we have chosen...lol

If you are interested in my story, please subscribe to my blog and comment there also. You would be surprised how much our words, yours included, can help others!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
