watch out!

Recommended Posts

all you fellow food addicts, watch out when it comes to slipping back into bad habits. I found myself doing so under unbelievable circumstances. Picture this....I'm a week post op from bilateral hip replacement. The pain is horrific, I can barely move, am on oxycodone round the clock...and find myself snacking on Cookies in the hospital and rehab. I did that for a few days and then stopped being stupid and started to say no to the snack lady.

This was a good lesson for me as it let me know that no matter the circumstances, once an addict, always an addict.

I've been having a lot of pain issues lately. Nothing band related, but spinal/neck issues. Because I'm so afraid to take Advil, I've been hitting the leftover bottle of Lortab from my LB surgery. When I take that, or Percocet, or Xanax for anxiety, I notice that I get a bit sloppy with my eating. I think the narcotic/sedating meds bring down our defenses. Maybe that is some of what was going on with you? Also, somehow......when we've gone through such physical trauma, it's easy to go to those comfort types of foods. Ya know.....the kind our moms gave us when we were sick as kids. Old habits DO die hard!

You are so right , the acceptance of being an addict to food is a good quarter of the journey. In the last year I have seen myself slip back to habits because I practice "seemingly irrelevant decisions". Each one an addicts behaviour pattern. Well done on recognising yours and well done on fighting the demon. Your a true inspiration.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
