Feeling discouraged...

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery Oct.10th and I won't have a fill until Nov. 16th. I have lost 13lbs. But weight loss is not my focus right now as much as healing. I have been so hungry and I have no energy. This is the worst part. Please tell me I will feel some relief after the fill. Ugh... this is frustrating...:(

You are doing quite well actually. to lose 13 lbs this quick after surgery is good. but yes feeling hungry is part of it. liquids and mushy foods just doesnt stick with you long. just try and remember your diet knowledge. low fat, low sugar, low carbs, low calories to get you through until you start getting some restriction with fills. good luck

Not sure how a fill will make you feel better...my health and overall general feeling did not occur until the weight started to come off....and for me that did not begin to happen until 2-3 months after surgery....

Hi there, hang in there. I am still pre-band (one more week!) but I've been reading posts for a few months now to prepare and it seems like this is a difficult time for so many people. Take good care of yourself. It's just two and a half weeks since your surgery. I'm not sure where you live but here in New England the light is changing so much right now and there's that feeling of impending winter. Is there something fun you can do for the next couple of weeks to help distract yourself while you wait to see the surgeon and have your first fill? I just bought strings of twinkly lights to hang up to try to get at the light deficit. That always makes me feel better in these winter months. How is your exercise life? Oh, and will you come back and tell me this when it's my turn? Best wishes!

I didn't have my first fill until almost 3 months post op. I think a lot of success is mental preparedness and using the program as a whole. I NEVER eat more than 1-2 cups of food...always the Protein first then veg... ensure I get my protein and Water in every day! If you work off of that.....SUCCESS! I use my bad as a too...not a crutch! I only have 3 tiny units in my band now....! Good luck to everyone......Lisa

The tiredness and is normal you just had Major surgery. Your body is healing and your right to focus on that now.

The best thing to do for your body to help it heal and get some energy back is to keep up on your Protein. Try to up the amount your taking in if your feeling really sluggish and hydrate. Lack of Water can make you very tired as well.

Check with your PCP if you are on any medication, weight loss can affect the doses that you need to take and that could be affecting you as well. I know know for me my blood pressure meds were too high after surgery and I was feeling tired all the time. So the Dr. lowered them.

Getting a fill will help with the feelings of hunger you have, but right now if your hungry feed your body something nutrition that's on your plan and high in Protein.< /p>

Hope your feeling better soon!

Thanks for the responses. I didn't think the fill would make me feel better. I was just hoping it will make me have the satisfied feeling and not the hungry grumbles I feel everyday. I am doing everything I am told. It is true. Everyone is different. I appreciate the information.

Oh yes everyone is very different friend you are right there. Since surgery my tummy sometimes makes those grumbles even when I am not hungry, sometimes it's grumbling right after I've eaten. B)

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
