What do people mean when they say their stuck? What is slippage? I'm somewhat aware, but I know it may be different for some people.

Actually, it's the same definition for everyone.

Slip is a band slip, which means it's ripped it's stitches and moved out of place around the stomach. There are different degrees of slips, some very minor and easily fixed just by going on liquids and some severe requiring band removal or replacement. The main causes of slips are bands too tight, vomiting and over eating.

Stuck is when food gets stuck above the band and can't pass as it should. Usually, it's pretty brief but sometimes it can last awhile and even require doctor intervention. If you're stuck bad enough, you may even PB (productive burp) the food back up. The main causes of getting stuck are not chewing enough, not taking small enough bites, not pausing between bites, or even a band too tight.

Hope that helps!

A good reference is that if you don't chew your food properly and get food "stuck: frequently and vomit often, this behavior will eventually cause band slippage.

If you did not read this VERY important post that I posted today on how the band works, it is good reading as a newbie, and is critical to your band's health long and short term.

NaNa....Woah! I read it...long but worth it. I understand Red, Green, and Yellow zone now. Plus, the eight rules make sense. Its all in what you eat. Band a tool, but its work. I love the article from the maker of the band. I see what makes it work and what wouldn't. Its all in the individual. Thanks!
