I am still afraid to go out to eat, I used to eat out 3 To 4 times a week, now That I am over the addiction i don't want to open that door again. As per different food I can eat, i've been trying everything here and there, so far so good... Haven't try lobster yet, which I love to eat. Next week is my birthday so, I will be eating out, I' ll let you know how it goes.

Happy Birthday (almost) -- have fun out on the town!

Unless we're dining out with friends, it's rare that I ever order a drink (cocktail) when we eat out. But the times that I do have one, I don't worry about drinking it with food.

On the weekends we eat out for just about every meal. I order what I want, and follow the eating rules; small bites chewed well, eat slowly and listen for the signal. When I get the signal, I stop & ask for a to go box. I don't order things like french fries, but I'll eat a few of my husband's. If I order a hamburger, I'll take one or two bites with the bun, but end up pushing the bread off to the side. Learning to eat after surgery is truly a trial and error process. I've never been stuck since being banded, so that never crosses my mind when we're out. I chew so well, that by the time I swallow the bite, that last bite has gone all the way down. I love eating out, and once I got the hang of how to eat while listening for the signal, I just go out and enjoy "dining". My biggest frustration is when something is SO good, I resent having to stop at the signal. I may push another couple of bites, but then I feel the signal yell a little louder. At that point, I'm done :D

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
