Can't wait for mushies!

Recommended Posts

Tomorrow will be 2 weeks on clear liquids! One more week to go! I'm getting really bored on the liquids, and can't wait for the next stage! Any good recommendations for mushies?

Ohhhh mushies...never tasted so delicious! I was allowed egg, tuna, chicken salad and saltine crackers....i got a magic bullet and made the salads in there....so yummy. I was also allowed ground beef as long as it was pureed....made tacos (meat only) and threw it in the magic bullet. I was also able to have soft cheese. My hubby found a quaker oatmeal with high Fiber (weight control cinamin & brown sugar)...that mixed with a cup of low fat milk was like 13-15g. Protein for Breakfast.

I also had minced chicken and mashed potatoes and gravy. I had Wendy's chili in the magic bullet with a bit of sour cream...yummy too.

Alot will depend on your docs instructions as to what they consider a mushy but that is some of what i was allowed to have.

Good job on all the liquids...it is a tough stage...but you are more than 1/2 way done....WAY TO GO!

Hope that helped....

I am on mushies right now. I can't have any meats yet, but I can have scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes, cream Soups, lowfat cottage cheese, oatmeal, bananas. I was on a 4 week preop diet, so after 5 weeks, this stuff tastes heavenly - especially the eggs!

I ate a ton of canned chicken and tuna during that phase...really didn't have to be pureed as long as it could be mashed up with a fork. Refried Beans with cheese was another staple!

Did you put the crackers in the bullet?

I am on mushies and I have been allowed tuna, ground chicken, eggs, hamburger, fish, cheese and cooked veggies. I am really enjoying my food right now. No bread, raw foods of any kind or crackers...oh and I have to keep my food moist!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
