What ifood is good and bad to eat after lapband,

Hi I am in my 7 day liquid diet , and of course I am thinking food :)), I am a very dedicated person but I would like to know what we can eat when you are allowed to eat solid after surgery , my surgery is november 6 are we allowed to eat meat, rice, Beans , i would like to know, thanks :)

Your surgeon will give you a post op diet to follow the first few weeks after surgery. It's very important you follow it exactly- regardless of what anyone here says.

Once you're past the post op diet phase and back to regular food, there isn't anything you can't eat. It's just about moderation and making healthy food choices.

You should be given a detailed feeding plan by your doc and/or nutritionist to get you started. Most them include a shopping list of YES foods. These are ideal foods that are typically easy to eat and give you optimal nutrition.

The reality is, you can eat whatever you desire. However, with that being said:

1) Everyone needs to experiment with their foods. For some, foods like bread, Pasta, rice, dry meat etc cause issues and so therefore they avoid them. However, if you can eat them than you may, just in moderation (if high carb for example)

2) Healthy choices are essential if you want to lose weight. Two things to keep in mind is making Protein your priority (60-90g per day minimum). That should be your staple and than eat extras after your Protein. Do it the other way you are likely to stall or even gain weight. Also, traditionally bad foods like Cookies and icecream are high cal. Although it can get by the band, it is in no way going to serve you if that becomes a daily indulgence. The key is moderation. However, I take it a step further and recommend a strict diet for at least 6 months as you heal and adapt to eating with the band. You'll give yourself a great jump start in your weight loss and will more than likely have had enough fills for good restriction resulting in smaller volume intake when you do indulge.

I don't think we stress enough the importance of following the diet rules. So many ppl are eager to get back to eating normal foods that that soon snowballs into eating the same volumes etc. There needs to be a commitment to changing the dietary habits/food selections in addition to eating less to be successful. Again, nothings off the table, but moderation is key.

Thanks a lot , I was a little confused about this , I really though I will never eat regular food again, thanks so much for the advise!

there is no good or bad foods...only some better options/choices that are better for us..

to me, to diet means to deprive or do without.....dont do that...eat but just eat better...let food nourish you, not run your life..eat to live..no more living to eat...

Yep this is a life long adventure so depriving yourself of something you want won't last long. It's all about portions but be careful with them because higher calorie food is what caused our weight to get out of control.

      Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

        Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

        Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
