Restrictions post op

Well I feel like I need to chew something. The liquids are driving me crazy. I can't go in the family room because of all the good food that's out there. I don't understand. I see different post op diets. Maybe some one can also explain why 2 weeks of liquids.

I haven't even had an appetite since surgery! But I think I'm going to burn out on liquids very quickly.

I had 4 weeks of liquids after surgery, so it could be worse than your 2 weeks ;)

The reason is because your stomach has been sutured, manipulated, and wounded. If you don't follow your post op diet exactly, you are putting yourself at very high risk for complications such as ripping stitches in your stomach.

Your stomach needs time to heal.

I had 2 weeks liquid pre-op and 2 weeks liquid post-op...and no doubt about it....IT STUNK  ....but hang in there...you can and WILL do it....and believe me, you will LOVE. LOVE, LOVE mushies (if thats what comes next for you). It made me realize how good food actually tastes after its over.

No doubt about it, its hard! Hang in there...you're doing great! :D

this is the hard part for sure hang in there you will be glad you did. Get all the food you shouldnt eat out of the house and if you hve kids and hubby I am sure they could losse a few pounds also. They can eat the junk at school, friends house, in the back yard anywhere that you dont see it or hear it that kind of support is priceless good luck you'll make it.My kitchen looks like we need to go to the food bank lol

I totally understand. I was banded Oct. 18. I had 1 week liquid pre-op and 2 week liquid post op. I finished week 1 post op. No tummy upset or anything. I go back to doctor tomorrow for my post op visit. Hope he lets me move on to mushies. I have noticed on some of the posts that they get to start mushies after 1 week post op. I am soooo sick of liquids.

Well I had 3 weeks of liquids, and it is necessary because you stomach is healing, you don't want to give your body more work than what is necesary to heal. Try meditation to calm down there are good guided meditations in youtube.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
