Dating/Relationship....Online/Forum???

I think there should be a dating site for WLS people. Dating someone who don't understand why people resort to WLS can be a bit difficult. They tend to be close minded. Since we know the difficulties with weight loss challenges, I believe we can understand and support one another. I'm just saying. What do you gals/guys think?

It would be nice, but you can still meet people who are empathetic and understanding.

I actually met my current boyfriend last July, seven months after my band surgery. I was honest with him about it from the beginning and he has always been very supportive. In fact, I've lost about 120 more pounds since meeting him and he's become my biggest supporter. (We now live together, too)

That's good! I wish there were more men like him...hehehe. I notice the men here in South, Florida are so shallow. I'm not saying men elsewhere isn't, but most if the men here are superficial. They want natural thin women. I meant a guy who said, "If you have WLS to control your weight, then you'll end up being fat later." I mean clearly he was a ****** bag, but I've heard some friends of mine who had bypass and lost bf's because they thought about the worst happening. Smh...I hope I find someone who is understanding and not a a*****e. However, I'm happy you met someone. :)

I can understand your logic. I was fortunate to have been banded w/ my husband on the same day. Sometimes you hear the stories of how difficult it is living with nonbanded spouses, nontheless, finding someone entirely new to understand and support you. Mis is right, of course you can find men open/understanding. However, I too would be inclined to find someone who related as it is a huge change/adjustment in your life and you don't need the problem of convincing or battling others as well.

Ironically, if you look at the chat room, there is a room for singles. It's just never used. Some of the singles should start a singles chat forum with certain days/times so you can mingle. Not sure how successful it'll be because I'm unsure how many singles are chatting etc etc. But worth a try?

Though I met my husband here in So. California, he is from South Florida (Ft. Lauderdale). The most wonderful man on earth. I was a "normal" size when we met 8 years ago, but ballooned up to a size 22 during those years. He never once beat me up for it, nor did he ever put me down. Loves me through and through. His biggest concern is, and has always been, my health. That being said, I would venture to say that if he met me at a size 22, the attraction would not have been there. If we are really honest with ourselves, do you blame him......or men not being attracted to obese women (and vice versa)? As much as I've struggled with the same 100 pound swing in weight, I was never attracted to obese men. A bit overweight, yes. Morbidly obese, no. Just being honest......

Actually, it does make sense you're having a hard time meeting men in Florida. It seems like the sunnier the climate, the more stress to look good in a bathing suit to enjoy it. I remember even going down to Georgia and feeling like a whale because it seemed like the women were a lot thinner overall than they were up here in Michigan.

I'm not sure what age guy you're looking for, but if you're looking for a younger one I bet it would be harder, too. My boyfriend and I are both 40. As much I hate being officially in my forties (I want my thirties back! lol) the plus side is- we're both too old for superficial BS. Guys my age are dealing their own issues too, be it losing hair or gaining weight, so they're not nearly as critical as a guy in his twenties or early thirties.

There are actually a couple really nice single guys on these forums, btw!! *hint! hint!* ;)

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
