Hi there, my name is Michele. I had a lapband back in 1998 and my first attempt at a tightening was not good. I'm not after all this time going to try again. I want to keep this to ver close friends and very close family as I am so scared of failing.

My first tightening took an hour with I expect an inexperienced technician. I never went back. I now want my life back ! I have achieved so much at this weight but I know I can achieve much more and I don't want to sit on the side lines of life personally anymore. I would love to make friends on here who I can support and who can give me advice. I'm not good at being vulnerable or asking for help but I figure we have oceans between us and maybe this will allow me to move forward without watching eyes and judgment.

Cheers

Michele

Welcome to LBT!

You will find a lot of support here and I hope no one passes judgement on you. Just be prepared that if you ask a question, everyone has an opinion and not afraid to give it, lol.

I do hope you are able to find a Dr. who can give you any fills you may need, without causing unnecessary stress.

Good luck!

Good morning, I am new as well. I joined a few days ago and it has been great. No one in my home or close circle has had lap band so the don't understand. This site is great for you. Find another place or call where you went before and express your fear and concerns. You will do great!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
