7 months and disappointed

Recommended Posts

My surgery was 7 months ago, and I have lost 27 pounds. I am having an "is that all?" pity party. Yes, I am thrilled with the loss and maintenance but I feel like it should be more. I keep asking myself what I'm doing wrong. I don't exercise regularly and I don't limit myself to a 1/2 cup of food per meal. I eat until I feel satisfied. Lately, I've been very stressed and most food has been troublesome. I see my surgeon Tuesday so I will discuss everything with him then. Just need to vent my frustrations!

27 pounds is great and it's a lot better than gaining, right?

I think you already know where you need to make changes- you said you don't exercise and you don't regulate how much you eat. Weight loss comes down to simple math: when you burn more calories than you consume, you lose weight. Measuring portions, tracking calories, and exercising is a sure-fire way to assure that happens. Otherwise, you're likely eating more calories than you burn and thus don't lose.

Hang in there!

Glad you are going to see your surgeon -- it sounds like you're ready to get the next 27 off! Don't beat yourself up, but get your band working for you. Hope you find an exercise plan that works for you -- whether walking, a dance class, etc. Even when I have to drag myself to the basement to get on the treadmill, afterwards it feels so good.

I do understand your frustration. I was banded 2 years ago and Have lost 32 lbs. but like you was not working the program 100%. I'm back on again and lost 4 this week. Just get back to what you know is the right and start with taking some walks and you will be back to the losing side again.

The beauty of the band is that you get do-overs!!! Start at your surgeon's office and get a fill, or two, or three. Hang in there until you reach the green zone, stick with small portions, and get some exercise. It's never too late to start over!

dont be disappointed..a loss is a loss....back to basics....protein first and front...then veggies and a fruit..stop at a cup of food..stop at 20 minutes......drink all the time...and heck, walk around for 5 or 10 min...basics...just like when you started...a loss is a loss......no matter how big or small.....talk to the dr on tuesday..see what they say..YOU can do this....you already are....big hugs

Hang in there, you've done great so far, just kick up the pace a bit. Maybe find a workout buddy? This may help with motivation. I work out 5-6 days a week and have done it for so long that I feel guilty when I miss a day. I was told by my nutritionist to limit meals to 6-8 oz. So I shoot for 6 oz. Some days I am hungrier than others and so I try to increase the liquid intake. I know my band won't do all the work, I have to do my part as well. You can do this, talk with your doc, go back to the band basics and kick up the activity a bit and I'm sure you'll see the scale start moving some more. You got this! Don't beat yourself up!

Thanks everyone!

Apparently I was disappointed for no reason. I weighed in at surgeon's office today 4 pounds lighter than a month ago, and he thinks I'm in the green zone!

I wasn't sure because the last two weeks have been very stressful (plus PMS) so eating was difficult and I craved crap food. He thinks I was outskirts of green/red. Decided to stay where I am (fill-wise) and go back in a month.

Thanks for the encouragement!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
