Breakfast

Recommended Posts

I've had a lapband for nearly 4 years and in this time I have never been able to eat Breakfast. I really need to go on a massive health kick and need to be able to get Breakfast down early in the morning and something quick without it getting stuck.

Any ideas on some foods that work early in the morning?

smoothie or Protein shake sometimes work for me. It's hard in the morning.

I usually do a smoothy, too. But, I start with coffee. I have eaten breakfast; when I did, it was usually hot Cereal. If you can't stomach that, then I would stick to a nice smoothy with Protein and fruit added.

PS: Fill in your profile. What is your bandiversary date? I will have been banded 4 years on Oct. 30. Karen

I've been having a Protein shake. It's easy and I can take my time with it.

Since it's Saturday, I made a mini omlette. I put some ground up turkey ham and some cheese over a scramble egg. LOVED it!

Now, about 45 min later I am sipping some sugar free hot chocolate.

...I love Saturdays. *sigh*

Breakfast has never been my favorite meal, unless we go out. Even so, before the band, I would always eat some eggs, a slice of toast and a piece of fruit. I'm one who MUST have dense Protein in the morning, or else my blood sugar plays havoc with me for the rest of the day. That being said, since surgery, sometimes all I can stomach in the morning is a Protein Shake. I cannot blend fruit into it, because it adds too much sugar & I have a rapid drop within and hour or two. The only protein shake I ended up keeping around, is the ready made chocolate Premiere Protein. On days where I'm able to stomach solid food, I'll have one egg with a slice of melted cheese, or 1/2 of a chicken apple sausage with an egg.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
