8 Days since i got my band

Recommended Posts

It's been eight days since I got my band. Walking has helped a lot, still on liquids. My wife came up with an alternative to pizza for me , she takes Tomato Soup add a little milk and sprinkles parmesan cheese over it. I also found that Popsicles are a great way to get Fluid. I still don't get my fluid amounts that I am suppose to.

I'm at day 3 post-op and I'm not getting my fluids in either! I sip all day but it takes forever to get down. All of the creamy Soups, Protein Shakes, and cold things are still too hard to get down but I can do about 2 oz of Protein Shake with 2 oz of warm coffee at a time and do that 3 times with about a bottle of Water between each one. I never thought drinking could be so tough!

I'm on day 9. Good luck on your weight loss journey. Drink lots of Water.

I'm still an extreme noob to all this...not having my first consultation until the beginning of November, so if you don't mind my asking, why is it hard to get your fluids in immediately after surgery? Does your stomach hurt? Is your throat sore? Are you just not hungry?

Hi all. I'm new to this but here goes. I was banded on the 17th October in bromsgrove. (9days post op) I am still on liquids and am really struggling with it. I can't wait to have a bit of soft food. Can anyone recommend a good menu for while on the soft diet? I have had an ap small band with a max capacity of 10cc. My surgeon added 4cc during surgery. While preparing some home made Soup the other day I did something that clearly I am not aware I do. I ate a huge chunk of raw carrot without even realising until the pain hit. Oh my lord was it bad the raw carrot was stuck. I was so angry with myself that this happened but obviously I was unaware of what I was doing as it's just a normal habit that I would do daily. Anyway I'm fine now but it scared me so much. Would love to here from others new to this and also the pro's.

Jo

I had mine the same day. Try Tomato Soup with a little milk and Parmesan cheese sprinkled over it. Also sugar free Popsicles

Thanks. I will try that. I've lived off carrot and coriander Soup for the past 8 days. And then any other Soups I just add loads of pepper. I'm craving scrambled eggs with Tomato so much. Cooking for family and remembering not to pick is tough going. How are you feeling now? I'm back to my usual self just a bit sore where my port is situated but I'm guessing this is totally normal.

Very much the same. I am craving scrambled eggs to. I have had to catch myself from trying to pick while cooking also. I need to work on my Water intake My port area is still sore and I have a little bruising around it.

Me too. I don't drink anywhere near as much as I should either. I'm looking forward to getting into a good routine while eating a healthy balanced diet. I know it's very early days for us being banded on the same day.

We both sound like we are on the same track. I have been keeping a small glass with crushed ice and Water in it while I watch tv and just sip.

I'm going to make an effort to get more Water down too. It's so hard when you have such a busy lifestyle

I know how you feel. We just have to learn how to take care of our selfs before we can do for others.

Yes. Everyday gets easier I'm finding. It's great to have this site as much as family and friends have both been supportive and tried to change my mind on the surgery I wonder do they really understand? So having this site to talk to people going through the same as me, some started the journey years ago and some just starting out is exactly what we all need.

I have a lot of those friends who say don't do it. And I have been surprised by some who are actually jealous of me losing weight. I take comfort in knowing that I do have people who understand I want to live a full healthy life and do anything I want.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
