Try a different flavor or brand. I had a lot of terrible ones but ended up with muscle milk light chocolate. Mix it with coffee and you have a mocha. Now is to find one that you like since you will be revisiting the shakes many more times. (fills, stuck episodes and climbing back on the wagon)

I used Premier Protein at 30 grams of Protein it helps hold your hunger at bay for a longer period of time and the calories are lower as well as sugar content.

The flavor was good, I did not like the muscle milk light it had a strange after taste.

You can do it! In between shakes try drinking your Water, and see if you can have some sugar free ice pops they count as Water but give you that bite and crunch.

Good luck! You can do it!

I had to buy them from the doctor..they said it had to be this brand....do u think its ok to get other brands? I was told to drink 5 shakes a day (nothing else except water). Can not add anything to them except crystal light (but i have latte falvored and choc. so i dont think that would be to good). These shakes were $110 for 3 weeks worth.

You may be able to return your unopened boxes to the office. Let them know what the problem is, they may have some recipe suggestions.

If you can't drink them, not only is it wasted money, but it sure leaves you open to failing your pre op diet. It's a good time to have open honest communication with your doctors office, this is a long term relationship! :)

Looks like your doctor is taking the Barbie approach. I'll do the lapband, but you've got to buy the Malibu beach house from me. That was one of the problems I had with the various weight loss plans where you had to pay a membership and still buy food from them. They should try to help you succeed not put roadblocks up.

Try GNC total lean. Delicious and no after taste! I find that when I make my own they are worse then when I just buy them pre-made

GNC & Designer whey have been my go to shakes. I recently discovered PB2 (it's a dried peanut powder that you can add to shakes). I make mine with Almond milk or coffee, gives them a little kick.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
