Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

Recommended Posts

I'm starting to get use to my new weight, but I've been having a difficult time finding clothes that I like at the prices I'm willing to pay. So when all else fails...what do we do? Hit the thrift shop! I went to the Goodwill Select store in my area and found a few very nice - nearly new pieces. One that I'm especially proud of is a Talbot's sage green short cardigan sweater, the tags were still on it - Retail $59.99, I paid $4.99 but I think the best part is that it was a size Large - which we know for a store like Talbots is a size Medium everywhere else. I also bought a sweater from somewhere in the U.K. that was labeled size 16. I looked up the size conversion and found it to be a U.S. size 14!

So, here's the NSV: I have gone from a size 20 or XXL top to a 14 or M/L top! I am so happy...and I'm finally ready to shop.

Good for you, nice NSV! And I was always hitting Goodwill for their better racks. You can pick up some pretty nice things for low prices, good place while you lose. KAren.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
