kphoping 47 Posted October 23, 2013 Got banded on 10/9 and had some other issues arise after I was banded. I am now on the mushie diet but I was wondering how long should one wait to start exercising after the band? 1 Carvinplayer reacted to this
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted October 23, 2013 You should start walking right away- and the more the better. As far as other exercise, get clearance from your doctor to start. 4 SeaSounders♥, PrettyThick1, Carvinplayer and 1 other reacted to this
intelirish 714 Posted October 23, 2013 I was banded 9/19 and was told i needed to walk at least 45 mins a day starting as soon as i could get my butt in shoes .. but because i had the dreaded hernia repair also no heavy lifting or upper body workouts for 6wks. 2 Carvinplayer and kll724 reacted to this
Leena 108 Posted October 23, 2013 Ask you doctor. But generally walking is ok. Just an FYI- work out on an empty stomach as your band may feel tighter during and after exercise. 2 PrettyThick1 and Carvinplayer reacted to this
kll724 3,055 Posted October 23, 2013 Yes, my surgeon said walk as much as I like. But, no lifts, or other type of weights, and sit ups, etc for 6 weeks. 1 Carvinplayer reacted to this
Carvinplayer 5 Posted November 1, 2013 I walked all over the hospital on day #0, a mile on post-op day #1, 1.5 miles on post-op day #2, and today I am going to walk for a full 3 miles. As an RN I can tell you that unless my patients are on a ventilator or are medically unstable they at least get out of bed and into a recliner on the first day. Walk, walk, walk! It is good for the body and good for the brain and it will get all of that air out of you. I have a month off and I intend to spend a good part of every day outside in the fresh air walking through parks filled with the colors of autumn. Grats to you and good luck! 1 kll724 reacted to this
