Hi Kelly, so excited for you making this decision to take back your health! There is a group of November banders for you to join. If you look all the way down in forum topics? Sorry I'm not a sophisticated enough user to give you better directions! My date is 11/5 and I'm doing pre-op liquid diet now. Very excited that it's all happening at last. Started my journey in June. Started my battle with weight twenty-two years ago.

i think im still in a bit of shock, i didnt think i would be this quick and thought id have to wait at least a few months so its a bit of a rush to get everything organised.

i still havent met the aneithatist as they did the questionaire over the phone, bit weird but ok.

i meet the dietition on the 1st of november but im pretty clued in as to what i can and can not have.

my mum had her band done a few years ago due to heart problems so i know what is expected.

im suposed to start opti fast liquid diet 2 weeks before op but ive read alot of people start 4 weeks before, should i start it now?

thank you everyone, and ill try keep you all up dated when i can :)

Hi Kelly, welcome! This is an exciting time. You're taking some solid steps towards a healthier future for yourself and hopefully, your future children. :) I'll be right behind you in the OR, my surgery date is the 20th, just found out, today. :D

I am to start my pre-op diet later this week. You should do yours according to your doctor's instructions. Sooner can't hurt, as long as you do it at least as long as instructed.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
