How do you deal?

With period cravings??? Every other month about the week before my period I get cravings like I did when I was pregnant! It's terrible! I've been banded six weeks, so this is my first time dealing with this as a banded person. It was all I could do not to go nuts on the Halloween candy today! Help!

Don't deprive yourself because you'll break and binge. Be honest and eat sparingly. It helps to record what you consume in an app. I think, anyway. Good luck and don't let the season get to ya!

Also 6 weeks is soon for solids, even melty ones like chocolate, be careful!

Do you know Umeboshi plums? They are a Japanese staple available in health food shops and many grocery stores. You can get them whole (packaged) or in an Umeboshi paste. Very salty, so that's something to watch out for, but known for reducing sugar cravings, high in Iron. If you like savory flavors, Umeboshi is amazing. You need very little - a teeny bit on a small spoon - to feel very satisfied. I just had some with my chicken broth (about an eighth of a teaspoon) -- on day two of liquid diet and needed something satisfying to help me through.

Dark chocolate chips are good instead of milk chocolate. I usually eat those with some almonds. I don't know where you are food wise but if you can eat regular food it's just as good as eating a candy bar only good for you.

Thank you!!! My surgeon had me progress fairly quickly to solids. I did liquids for a week, mushies for a week, then solids. So I will definitely be able to try your suggestions!

bakers chocolate is half the sugar as regular chocolate. melt some add nuts of your choice, dollop on a cookie sheet cool and than put in freezer bag and put in freezer. enjoy a piece when you just need candy.< /p>

I don't mean to sound dumb here but are you talking about the bark choc like for instance the white choc that comes in a large package that is scored and you pop it in the microwave to melt and then dip pretzels into it like at Christmas time and of course I'm talking pre band eating...ha ha ha but is that bakers choc?

Small indulgences here and there won't kill you...or your diet...as long as they are within reason. I try to get at least 1000 cals in good foods a day, and when I have a craving I allow myself some cheetos or doritos on top of that. I do feel guilty too, not gonna lie, but I make sure to make up those calories walking on the track!

There's a recipe from the HCG diet for a chocolate type thing. You mix coconut oil with cocoa, and vanilla extract with liquid sweetner.....stevia or trivia I believe, and you mix it, pour it on a cookie sheet, put it in freezer and Whala! It tastes like very dark chocolate. I don't like dark chocolate so not for me, but check out an HCG website. They live on it, lol

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
