Banditos everywhere I go!

Recommended Posts

A year ago I knew nothing about the band and now I'm two weeks out from the big day. I was at the hospital this afternoon getting my EKG and I mentioned to the nurse that I this is because of the upcoming surgery. She told me that she is banded herself over a year now and she gave me such a great pep talk by sharing her history. And last week I was at the hospital for yet another test. That nurse was banded, too! We're everywhere! I have to say I am really very reassured that so many medical professionals are choosing this path. As a layperson, it makes me feel like this is an excellent decision.

Oh, and since I'm on my pre-op diet I had to go buy another blender while I was in the city anyway. This was not strictly necessary but it seems to go with the territory. I went to two places and looked over all the appliances. I really have to have glass so that limited my choices. Now we have a brand new little glass blender that specializes in smoothies, chopping up ice, etc. Guess I can put the other one in the basement. Kind of ridiculous but there it is.

Happy Monday everybody!

It really is astounding how many medical professionals have the band. When I spent 8 days in the ICU this past spring, I couldn't believe the number of nurses and med students that said "Oh I have the band too!" or "there's a doctor here who's lost tons of weight with the band".

Here's the ironic part- for all the horror stories I see here, I haven't heard anything but praise from medical professionals with the band. In my eyes, it just further proves success with the band is all about education and patient compliance. These people were all acutely aware of their part in being successful so as a result are successful.

It really is a vote of confidence to hear that so many medical professionals choose the band.

Thanks for sharing that story! Every day these stories help to reaffirm my commitment to the band.

Since I was banded I have had more and more people tell me that they were also. The medical profession has many bandsters... I had complete confidence going into the band procedure and I am still extremely glad I made the right decision.

I can't believe your date is almost here!!! That is so great.

Interesting that medical staff are getting banded instead of the other 2 surgeries. Maybe they all know something we don't.

Stay warm in NH.

Before I finalized my decision to add plication to my band surgery, I made an appointment to discuss possible complications with my gastroenterologist. Turns out, his wife is banded, and went to my surgeon. At that time, she'd lost over 100 pounds, and was still losing. Although he didn't really sway me either way on the plication, I was SO happy to have that extra confirmation on my decision, AND that I was in excellent hands with my surgeon of choice :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
