Researching Cost for Self-Pay lapband in Macon GA

Recommended Posts

I am considering having lapband surgery, but I do not have insurance. Can anyone in the Macon, Georgia area give insight into the cost of a local self-pay, non-financed procedure?

Can't help with self pays costs in Georgia. In middle TN it's around $16,000. HOWEVER, if you decide to do lapband as a self-pay patient, you need to be prepared to self-pay all of the maintenance and after care required to maintain the band. My surgeon allows 90 days of follow-up and fills with the cost of surgery. I can guarantee you, you will probably need more. I'm close to two years out and have been in my surgeons office more times than I care to guess at. Yes, I did have some complications, but even without the complications I would still probably be in there at least monthly because I have a finicky band that will spontaneously get too tight or too loose.

I'm not saying this to be discouraging, I just think everybody should go into this with eyes wide open!! The band without adjustments is pretty much useless for most people.

I was self-pay in Oklahoma, and it was right at $12,000, and included the first year's maintenance and after-care. After that, I'll have to pay for fills, etc. I haven't had any trouble at all with mine. I've been into the office monthly since my surgery in July, and have had two fills. I'll consider it well worth every penny if it continues to help me lose weight as it has so far! Good luck!

I'm not in Georgia either, but I was self-pay which was $8990.00 with 2 fills. Fills at my doctor cost $200.00 per visit. When you check around see what the aftercare is going to cost. I found out they put a large band on me and I think the fills are to get more $ from patients. It kind of makes me angry, but I'm doing well so I can't really complain! I live near Miami. • most places do offer pretty good financing so you should check that as well. Hope it goes well!

I'm in GA. The Cost is between $8k & $10k. That's just for the surgery. Call to your area Bariatric Centers for some info.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
