Any of you have ever felt guilty of feeding non healthy food to your families when you are eating so healthy?

Honestly, yes. As a general rule, I don't feed them unhealthy food because they need healthy food as much as I do. I eat with my family so I just cook good stuff for all of us. The only exception would be if we're having a dinner on the run (which is rare) and then they get fast food and I just have a Protein Bar or shake. But otherwise, we eat the same things for meals.

I am an unconventional mom that makes three separate dinners. One for me, one for my daughter who is super picky, and one for my husband and son to share. It just works for us. My kids are both underweight so I do let them eat things like Nutella sandwiches and poptarts, but also try and model a healthy lifestyle for them too. It's a hard balance that's for sure.

Also, I felt deprived growing up because I was the only overweight person in my family so I would have to have my brother ask for chips when I wanted some. Because of that I developed what I call entitlement eating. I gained weight because once I was on my own I felt I was entitled to eat whatever I want, and I suffered the consequences. Because of that I want my kids to have a normal assortment of Snacks in the house to be eaten in moderation so when I am not there they aren't trying to scarf Cookies behind my back.

I'm sure you are doing a fine job with both you and your kids.

Good luck =)

I've been doing the same, cooking 3 meals, but I am exhausted... They don't want to eat what I cook for me, specially my husband, that despite the fact that he has been very supportive in this process, he eats very unhealthy, fried things, high carbs, etc.. He is getting weight and I feel mortify, I had express my concern but he always have an excuse for why he has been getting weight, I want not only me to be healthy, I want the three of us to be healthy.

Absolutely not..here's why

I have 3 sons (oldest is age 10) and from the get go I instilled a healthy diet into our kids through food choices and education. Healthy to me is not 100% raw foods. Healthy to me is moderation. And I have taught my children how to incorporate junk foods or heavy carb foods into their diets without overconsuming. It comes so natural to them and their preferences lean towards healthy foods 99% of the time. My middle child's fav food is brocolli, no joke and he is 6. My eldest is the kind of kid who takes a cupcakes, takes a couple bites and leaves the most of it uneaten. I don't ever deprive them. I also use myself and my life story as a great model for why healthy eating is important.

Now with that being said, I don't let the kids go hog wild. For instance, there alot of substitutions in our house. Like turkey bacon and fatfree hot dogs which the kids prefer over pork bacon and beef dogs. It makes me feel guilt-free knowing they can have some classic kid foods without all the excess fat and calories. I also manage their foods from a weekly standpoint. So for instance, if they had a super unhealthy day one day, I focus on leaner foods for the next few days. But again, no deprviation- kids are not on diets.

As for me, I have to eat separately because I need quiet to focus on my bites and not get stuck. I eat pretty odd stuff, like a can of turkey w/ mayo for lunch. No way the kids are going to buy that ahahha. And I wouldn't want that for them anyway.

Just make sure you lay a strong foundation of moderation. That way occassional bad eating has zero impact on their health and keeps everyone happy :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
