need breakfast ideas

Recommended Posts

I am 4 weeks out, and just started solid food. Yay for no more mushies!! I am looking for Breakfast ideas as I am getting tired of scrambled eggs. Here's the kicker though....I am only allowed Proteins. My doctor has a strict schedule to follow, and no veggies or carbs yet, and no dairy. What are some other things that you eat for breakfast??

Well I became creative with omelets, by adding crabmeat and Monterey Jack cheese. If you don't like that there is meat loafs, cottage cheese, fish, chicken, chili, there's tons of stuff.

I get sick of eggs too, so sometimes I'll have a small lean hamburger patty, and melt a slice of 2% American cheese on top. I can't eat much in the morning, but for blood sugar issues, I have to eat something. The patty is about 2oz of meat.

Another alternative I do, is have 1/2 Aidell's chicken Apple Sausage with an egg. LOVE that. I get the sausage at costco.....much cheaper than the market.

Mornings that I am home for breakfast I enjoy crustless quiche. There are many creative possibilities for what to add. I add a variety of cheeses and/or meats, and/or veggies.

Most mornings I stick with a Protein shake. Sometimes I will do oatmeal with Protein powder or some sugar free pudding with Protein Powder. Your plan sounds pretty restrictive, does you nutritionist have examples...they should be able to help you out. eggs do get old quick! Good luck!

I am not yet banded but because of all the meds I take I need to eat something in the morning. I'm not a huge breakfast person and the only breakfast foods I really like are all the bad ones. You know, biscuits and gravy or pancakes. So for the past couple of years I eat a can of chicken and noodle Soup for breakfast. I like it, it's not too heavy and it's higher in Protein and low in calories. My point is just because something is not a traditional breakfast food doesn't mean you can't eat it in the morning. Find something you like and wave your magic wand over it. Wa La! It's now a breakfast food in your world.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
