I am NOT a doctor and I don't play one on t.v. ~ HA!

Yes, I had that happen. It was not "bubble" gum; but a small piece of chewing gum. I didn't have any issues.

Thank you! This wasn't bubble gum either...just regular gum to cover my coffee breath! I feel ok but I still think I feel it there. I've had Water to try to help it go down, but no luck. My husband suggested I try to eat something small to see if that would work, but I'm scared!

If you don't feel it, chances are it went through like a piece of food. Try a hot liquid if you are still nervous and of course listen to your body and if you feel like something is wrong contact your surgeon!

contrary to the urban myth gum is not as resilient as you may believe I've chewed gum to the point of disintegration many times and I literally swallowed my gum every time I chewed it for years since I though spitting out gum was disgusting.

If you can get a hold of your surgeon and feel the gum then see if you can get a hold of your surgeon by text or phone ask him/her or ask if it is alright or if they want to take a look but ask asap, cause they will know for sure as our tool is silicone and the gum is sticky I have heard that we are not suppose to swallow gum not really sure why but I would ask my doc asap if the symptom was bothering me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
