Breaking the Rules - eating something you should NOT

Recommended Posts

Sorry for what happened to you. I have never gotten sick just stuck with foods. I have tried 1/2 a piece of french toast and I must say' date=' it did nothing for me. That was one of my staples because I don't eat eggs. I now just have shakes for Breakfast.

You may have helped someone with this post by telling them not to have french toast.[/quote']

Almost in my 2nd month no fill yet although in dec should be one. 1st month I've thrown up 2-3 times. Still slime because bites too big or don't eat slow enough. I had bread for the first time last week. Chip beef gravy over toast. If I break the toast in small pieces it went down ok but not going to try toasted bread very often. I don't throw up much and can eat most anything as long as I eat it correctly.

I'm not exercising much but walking a little every day. I know I need a fill eating more than 3x. My downfall is frozen yogurt and have more than should. So have to work towards not having it because it is a trigger. Slow and steady wins the race. Good luck all. Be safe

OMG I love frozen yogurt. I love the new ones where you go in and choose the flavors you want and then add your own goodies. Fortunately, there isn't one close to me so it's rare I get to indulge.

I buy the 1/2 gal at publix. I try to have a cup but doesn't always have that much...but more.

Gotta bring this under control. It's awful good tho. LOL

I just use the timer function on my phone. As soon as I swallow I start a 2:00 timer. That forces me to take time between bites. My meal isn't always hot by the time I'm done, but if I stick to the timer I really can eat whatever I want.

I've never thought of using a timer but I've seen it two times now reading the posts. Maybe I'll try that on my next meal so I don't get that knot fullness in my stomach or throat. Why pick two minutes? I can see it on more complex meals but egg omelet? I can really use it when eating chicken and beef.....can't seem to make it tender enough. Thanks for the idea. Good luck on your journey. I lost another lb. For me that's good. I haven't had a fill yet.

You're just starting out....you've got a long way to go...many lessons to learn

thank you!!

sometimes my impatience gets the better of me...hence the reason diets never worked for me...but I did lose 1 lb this week with no fill in my band yet so i just have to keep reminding myself "slow and steady wins the race"!! my band will help me get there!

I chose 2:00 because it's safest for me. Sometimes I wait even longer depending on how it's feeling. Softer foods (like eggs) are usually good at 1:00.

Thx for getting back to me. I see your reasoning. I take my time on most things but not on all. So maybe I'll try a timer and see if it will work for me. I can use my phone's stop watch.

It's really made a huge difference for me. My 5 year old likes to run the timer for me at restaurants.

I used my phone timer tonight. Ate it cold but went down and no pbing. I think I will use it in a restaurant too. Thx for the idea. I'll need a fill (1st) in Dec. So will certainly need it then.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
