Just wondering if any of you have experienced this. I have been banned for 3 weeks now. It seems every afternoon around 5:00p.m.

I began to get this severe headache it last until I go to sleep at night. I have never suffered from headaches inthe past. I called my Doctores office and spoke to one of the girls in the office,(she has also been banded) she seems to think it is caused from food withdrawl I know I am eating way way way less but I can hardly beleive that I would be getting headaches like this. I also usually use to drink 2 diet cokes in the afternoon, and now I am off those for 1 month, but I do drink ice tea. I am just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I have been taking tylenol, It does not help that much. Please let me know if anyone has advise.

I have been getting headaches a lot too but never really attributed them to anything but my crazy life. Mine start around early afternoon and will last for a couple of hours if I don't take anything. I rarely do take anything though because I never have anything handy at the time. Mine aren't horrible either but annoying. I have gotten mild headaches here and there in my life but never Migraines. My dad had the worst migraines when I was growing up and they made him really sick. We would have to take him to the hospital for a shot in the old rear. Have no idea what is causing either of our headaches and don't know if it could be band related or not. I thought mine were chemistry headaches really. Teresa

Teresa, don't you think yours are probably stress-related? Stress can cause a lot of health problems. Hope this weekend helps you relax!

Cateringqueen, I had headaches frequently and pretty bad the first few weeks after I was banded also. I contributed it to caffiene withdrawal and just not eating. After I got on solids, it seemed to level out. Have you tried a cup of hot (caffiene free)tea w/ honey and lemon? That is pretty much my first cure for everything --sleeplessness, head congestion, tummy ache, head ache. Hope they get better very soon!:D

Sorry if what I say is too obvious :D Are you drinking enough Water? as in Clear Liquids? I know that helps me. Maybe have a big glass in early afternoon, before headache hits? Since your food consumption has been dramatically reduced maybe your body needs to get used to it. Make sure your caloric intake is adecuate.

And finally, and this might be a stretch here but it happens to me, does it happens after you eat? I get this very specific headache when I eat something small enough that doesnt get stuck but too big for a banded size esophagus, and as it goes down, it gives me what i like to call the stretchy headache; an extension of the pain inside, climbing up from the neck to the temples until it finally goes when the food gets down safely.

Ok, as you can tell I am of no help, but I really hope your headaches ( and Teresa's) get better soon.

cheers

tellie

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
