jakki14 36 Posted October 16, 2013 Hello. I was wondering how long people had gas pains for? I have a terrible shoulder pain due to gas pain, I was wondering how much longer it might last? Thanks
Sharpie 3,306 Posted October 16, 2013 How long has it been since your surgery? I had shoulder pain for about a week.. I used a heating pad and liquid Tylenol for the pain.. occasionally when I eat too fast or a little too much I get a pain in the shoulder but not as much as right after surgery... keep moving and definitely drink.. You will feel much better soon...
jakki14 36 Posted October 16, 2013 I had surgery on Monday. The pain comes and goes. I am trying to walk when I feel it but it actually feels worse when I walk. Maybe I will try a heating pad, thanks!

drsandersrn 1 Posted October 16, 2013 The pain is from the leftover CO2. Some doctors told me after the fact that I could have positioned pillows under my hips while laying on my back to try and displace the leftover gas from the phrenic nerve which is around the stomach. The pain is actually referring up into the shoulder area. I actually put ice on my shoulder. Moving does help the leftover gas dissipate quicker. In also saw where it is recommended to lay on your side and pull your knees up as close to your chest as possible for 5-15 mins to try and get relief. I asked the office what I could do and they said gas-x but the only way that would have helped would have been if it was intestinal gas, and this isn't. It's that left over CO2 from the lap-
