70 is it

Recommended Posts

I'm trying so hard to convince myself that 70 lbs is all I'm going to lose. I'm still morbidly obese and very unhealthy but I am better than when I started. If I can convince myself that 70 is it... no more.. then I can move on with my life and stop stressing out over the yo-yo'ing of the 3lbs I've lost and gained for months. I cannot get past 238 lbs.. I've tried phentermine, I've tried Atkins, I've tried all I know to try and I still can't drop below 238. I really was hoping to at least break out of the 200's with the band but I do think my life would be easier if I'd just live with the 70 (sadly, only 69lbs) that I've lost.

I too have had a scale plateau that has lasted for quite some time. However as I have increased my workouts, I have seen a drop in both inches, and in my body fat ratio. I have not lost weight, but have dropped from a size 16 pants to a 14, originally pre band they were 22/24! I feel better with the exercise---and figure when it comes down to it, in the end, only the Dr. and I will see the scale, if my clothes look better on me, and I feel better, then it's ok. I have read of many plateaus lasting months....guess we are part of those stats now!!! I always wanted to belong to a clique----don't think this is the one I wanted tho!!!

Hang in there---imagine all the health benefits you have gained losing the 70 pounds! Continuing to eat healthy is the goal---not just for weight loss, but to learn how to eat in a healthy manner, as a normal way of life. I do not diet in any way...I do not restrict any foods. I try to live by the motto----all things in moderation. I am terrible when told I cannot do something, or cannot have something-I fixate on it!!! So knowing if I want it, I can have it, helps me. I still have good restriction, so even if I go ahead and eat something loaded with carbs, I can't eat much of it---so there isn't much harm done! I very well could have broke this plateau, IF I had dieted or "behaved"!!! But for me this is my life, this is how I intend to live the rest of my life, and I do not want to diet forever!

I agree, amybe you need to let go of the stress, and enjoy your 70 pounds. One of the many wonderful things about these bands---it will be there waiting for you when you are ready to give it another go....and so will we here at LBT!!!

Yes - Relax for a bit. Focus on maintaining. Focus on adjusting to your new body. "let it ride" for a bit.

Later on, you can get motivated and try again to break the plateau.

Great job on the 70 lbs! I long to be as small as 238!

Hugs!

:]

I found that I lost the most weight when I was NOT focusing on it. I did foster care for my nephew who was 11 wks premature and very ill so my focus changed. at first I was worried I would gain weight being at home with all that time on my hands, I forgot in 17 years what crazyness a baby brings! I didnt weigh in, see doc, nothing for about 8 months then to my surprise, I lost 40lbs, no stress!

My advice, relax, enjoy your new body and focus on getting used to your new eating habits. try to exercise, 70lbs is hugh, you will notice how much easier it is to walk on the treadmill concentrate on how good your heart beats! youve done great, your journey is not over, our bodies take time to adjust to loosing soo much weight and hey if 70 is what you loose total, isnt that better than carring that 70 lbs on your hips?

positive thoughts equal positive results. I focused on a size 12, now cant get my mind to pick up the 10 I should wear. Picture yourself loosing the 100 mark and youll be there in no time! good luck!!!

I don't disagree with the people saying to just relax for a while and not stress so much, but I also want to mention that if after that, and you start working at it again if you aren't losing, you should make a doctor tell you why. There ARE true medical reasons to not be able to lose weight, and you should definitely know if that's your reason. Lookup Vinesqueen on these boards if you haven't already seen her posts.

Btw, I don't know when you were banded, but 70lbs is nothing to turn your nose up at. Also, I will tell you that I am about 2 1/2 years out, and I just passed the 75 lbs down mark before Christmas. I don't lose for MONTHS at a time, sometimes, no matter what I do, and then I'll drop 5/10/15 lbs all at once, and then be stuck for another number of months.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
