I will be two weeks post op this Wednesday. I have not yet started the ground meats yet. I am able to eat more than a cup of food and still not feel full. I am not drinking with meals. I do feel great and have energy but am constantly thinking what can I eat next? Feel like I need a my first fill NOW. Could it be my Multivitamin causing me to not feel full?

Sounds like your swelling is going down, and that you are ready for a fill!! Don't worry too much right now on specifics, just try to get through the healing phase and follow directions. Congrats!

You may be in "bandster hell" until you get the fill that gives you enough restriction for the band to work it's magic. That may be 1 fill or 6. No one knows. Till then, it's just another diet.

Also, you're still healing and most docs and nutritionists don't really worry about weight loss till your first few fills.

Thank you everyone for the comments. Good to know that it's not too soon to not feel full. I don't think my Doc will do a fill for at least 6 weeks. Hoping I can talk him into it this Wednesday. Don't want to regain the weight that I've lost thus far.

You are in the very, very early stages....you have a great deal to go through and learn...but do what you can, don't sweat the small stuff...and evntually the band will do as it was designed to do, as long as we don't get in the way and interfere....

BTW...I felt nothing, and the whole process was turning out to be a big mistake and waste of my time...until 8 weeks and 2 GOOD fills later....then the 3rd fill 4 weeks after that...since then I have been in heaven...does not get any better, or easier than this, in my case....

I have not needed or wanted a fill since that last 3rd one, and that was over 2 years ago...I'm still in Lap-band heaven!

So Patience!

It will never be about being full no matter how many fills you get. Right now you have to control your portions. When you do reach the right fill which I don't like to call restriction because people get the wrong idea you will not be trying to get full but feel satisfied for 3 to 4 hours on one cup or less of food. You still have to control yourself while in the early stages.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
