ameyer30 132 Posted October 14, 2013 I am 4 weeks post-op and the weight was falling off the first 2.5 weeks (lost 19lbs) but since that point it's been much slower. I know that is to be expected and the focus is healing but I still allowed it to upset me a bit. Last night I was kind of stewing about it and my 10 year old son says "Mom, you've done amazing. Relax and let it happen, slow and steady wins the race." I was astounded. When did he get so wise? Anyways, I weighed this morning as I always do on Mondays and was pleasantly surprised to see I'd dropped another 4.6lbs! Guess the 10 year old knows what he's talking about! 5 happy55, readysetg070113, DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! and 2 others reacted to this
readysetg070113 1,476 Posted October 14, 2013 Slow and steady does win the race if we are doing everything right it will click and it will come off. For me I have been overweight for 28 years I figure it's gonna take longer than a day to lose this excess weight so I just make the best choices I can. As far as the wise 10 yr old I guess he gets it from ur parenting skills. Kids learn what we teach them kids don't see the differences and brutally honest

ameyer30 132 Posted October 14, 2013 I was incredibly proud of him in that moment and thought...I must be doing something right! One day I was incredibly down and he pulled up a video on YouTube that you may have seen about a war vet who could barely walk due to complications of obesity and his years in the military as a parajumper who healed himself through yoga. It was set to "Fix You" by Coldplay. He told me to watch it and never give up. I cried and realized I'm raising a boy who will be an amazing man. I watch that video every time I need inspiration or a reminder why I am going to win this battle. My babies are the world to me. Thanks for your response! BayougirlMrsS 3,934 Posted October 14, 2013 Awwww.... Sha' that is too sweet and he is soooo right. I felt exactly how you feel. But in the end if you do what you are supposed to do... you will succeed. the Young is so perceptive. We don't think the listen, but the hear every thing we say. Last year me and my husband went eat at my oldest sons for dinner. We got on the subject of Botox. My son and DIL are both Nurses and they were saying all the horrible things that could happen.... But none hit home as much as what my Grandson said..(he was 7). he said... Nana, what is Botox for... I said well, it's a product you inject in your face to make you pretty. He said, then why do you want that.... I think your pretty just the way you are.... 1 KAATNS reacted to this
