I can't believe I am alsmost done with all the pre testing. In about two weeks I will be able to call my surgeon and get a date for surgery...

I wonder how long it will be untill I have my surgery. the quicker the better.

I just had my upper GI. Man did that stink!.

I hope my stress test on Monday and Tuesday will be easier..lol

Anyone have to have a nuclear stress test.

I am a bit Nervous..

I can relate!! I have just gone through the month of hell with all of the testing I had to get done. I second the fact that the upper GI is nooooooo fun. I'm glad it's done. I was nervous for some of the tests but they came out fine, you have nothing to worry about. Hopefully they'll give you your date within a couple of weeks. I get banded on Tuesday, the date arrives before you know it. Best of luck.

Debbie

Amy, a nuclear stress test is just a regular stress test where they hook up monitors to you and you walk a treadmill. They will gradually increase the speed and the incline. They want you to do it as long as you possibly can so they can get a good reading on your heart. The nuclear stress test means they will inject a radio-isotope into your inner arm (where they usually draw blood). They do the injection before the actual test. You wait a specified time for it to travel through your body. Then they hook you up to the monitors and do the treadmill. The radio-isotopes has absolutely no side-effects. It passes safely out of your body. Be sure you eat a good, balanced Breakfast before the test. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes - a top that buttons down the front so they can hook up the monitors. It's really a good test to have on your records for future monitoring of your heart health. You'll probably be a little tired when you get through. You'll do fine!:D

Hmmm.... you know, my dr. has not suggested any testing for me. The only thing he talked about was visiting a nutritionist. Is that odd or did others not have to do all this testing?

Blossom, they all have different rules and regulations. I'm sure he'll let you know when the time gets closer. There's usually routine blood work, ekg, etc. Depending on a person's health history, there may be more extensive tests required.:D

I had a necular stress test. Just the name of it sounds so scary but it was nothing. The upper g-I stuff where you have to drink yuccky stuff is the hardest. I had to have a regular (treadmill) stress test for the lapband surgery. The necular stress test came about 7 or 8 months earlier when I thaught I had had a heart attack. It turned out to be a gallbladder attack. Dont wory about the stress test...Janie :D

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
