I was so surprised how fast all of this is going! I had my first appt with my surgeon on Feb 21st and I was given a list with about 8 appts that I have to complete with my surgery taking place on April 3rd! My first appt is on March 1st...blood work, chest xrays, psych eval. I can't believe this! It took me so long to come to the decision that this is right for me that I can't believe it is going to be a reality in a month! Just wanted to share where I am at in my journey as each step I complete I get a tad bit more nervous! I visit this site every day for inspiration!! I know that this place will be a big part in my success!!!:clap2:

Congratulations!!! You are right, it will happen FAST!! But just think it means the weight will be dropping that much sooner!!! I was banded in April of last year, and I think April is a great month to be banded, it is Springtime, and you can begin a walking plan...and enjoy the rebirth of all the plant life!!!

There is a thread dedicated to April '07 bandsters...all of you with April dates for surgery. I belong to the April '06 group, and it has been one of the best things about my band---the special friendships I have formed! It is also nice to have someone to talk to that is in the same healing phase as you are...Go check out the thread. Us '06 bandsters are going to help you '07's in any way we can!!!

Jennifer,

I'm having my surgery today. I am pretty nervous hence the reason I am here reading instead of sleeping! I'm also very excited. I consider this the first day of the rest of my life. There is so much great information on the site. I already consider this part of my support network and I'm not even banded yet. Good luck to you. Keep us posted on your journey.

Dawn

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
