Another question, strong hiccups?

Recommended Posts

I'm ten days post surgery today, yay! The only thing really worrying me is that sometimes I get strong hiccups. I had LAP-Band/Plication surgery, so I guess I'm probably only paranoid, but can strong hiccups cause a slip?

My hiccups are pretty powerful and the hurt quite a bit when it happens, feels like my organs all take a leap for a minute!

Is this okay? Did this happen to others post-surgery. I've read how some people can use it as a sign of having eaten plenty, but this is unrelated to my food intake, it just kinda happens.

Thank you all for your help, I really appreciate this forum and everyone willing to post what knowledge they have! :)

They likely only hurt because your tummy is still healing. Once you're past the healing phase, you may still have strong hiccups but they shouldn't hurt. You don't have to worry about a slip from hiccups, either.

I have what my kids and I call "hiccurps". It's a combination hiccup and burp I get whenever I'm done eating. I get about a half dozen of them every single time. It makes my kids laugh lol.

Thanks, Missy!

I just wanted to make sure, it had me a little nervous! Honestly, it doesn't hurt any worse than normally when I get hiccups, but my hiccups are always super strong and hurt. XP

I'm glad it's no big deal though! It doesn't bother me if it isn't dangerous. I've had those before too, I coined them "hiccumburps", lol! ;)

It could also be your stop signal. Sometimes when you are full you will get hiccups.

I had/ have the same thing. My hiccup like spasms hurt really bad for about the first 2 weeks after surgery then the pain subsided. I still get them when my stomach is empty and when I've eaten enough food. It is very annoying but it's kind of helpful also.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
