Almost feels to good to be true

Recommended Posts

So I am 8 days post op and I feel amazing. I have dropped 12lbs so far and I feel 95% normal. I am following the post op diet strictly. My husband calls me the calorie nazi but I just want to be successful. I keep reading all these post about how terrible people feel on the post op diet and how hungry they are and it makes me think that my feeling so good is an indication of something wrong. I tend to over analyze and fret over things and this is one of those things. Am I the only person who feels this way? Is it really abnormal to feel so good so soon after surgery?

Cal-Nazi,

Not at all. I felt fine within a day but I was in a little shock over how much anesthesia they used on me.

Nothing's wrong with you! I didn't have any struggles with my pre op or post op diet. I followed them to the letter. I guess I was just lucky that I never really dealt with 'bandster hell', or feeling miserable due to hunger. Congrats to you, and your loss so far!

I felt great the next day. I very minor pain and little discomfort. And I've never gone through the ravenous hunger that some people speak of.

County yourself as one of the lucky ones :)

I'm having one of those terribly hungry-losing-no-weight post op'ers - Soak it up and enjoy it, worry will only spoil something such as that :] I'm envious!

I am 10 days out and feel good and pretty good about everything. I've just been kinda confused about how much/when to eat on a liquid diet (til Monday).

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
