kshannon 69 Posted October 11, 2013 Pet peeve & rant!!!! When I decided to open up to someone about my recent placement of the band - the first thing out her mouth (I felt she said it snottily) "you don't need it". Really?!! How do you know what I need?? A 41 BMI and countless years of struggling with my weight and you know what's best for me?? I'm sorry, try asking me why I felt I needed to go that direction but don't be so snotty about it!! Okay, rant done!! 5 intelirish, newlife828, jl2437 and 2 others reacted to this
jl2437 11 Posted October 11, 2013 I have had the same reaction from people. I hate having to explain to people just how much I weigh and my BMI because I then get the response well you don't look that big! My mother didn't want me to tell people I have been banded because of "THOSE" types of people. People can be so inconsiderate at times. Hang in there! We all encountered people like that. RANT AWAY!!! 2 dylanmiles23 and newlife828 reacted to this
intelirish 714 Posted October 11, 2013 I have pretty much adopted the attitude folks can either get on my "band" wagon and support me or they aren't worth the effort.. i have never been able to keep things to myself so when folks take the time to ask i tell them.. that been said.. i do have one friend that is contently telling me that she's worried for me.. i'm like why i feel even this early into it all fantastic i'm losing weight.. slowly but that's the way we want it to go.. and i'm happy with my choice.. then.. she starts in with all the horror stories.. so i have decided to take a small break from her.. so that when she sees me next hopefully the conversation will be more WOW .. your look amazing.. etc etc etc.. don't let folks weigh you down the only one that truly counts right now is you. Best luck on your journey we are all there with you. 1 jl2437 reacted to this
Sharpie 3,306 Posted October 11, 2013 Imagine when you are being walked back to surgical suite the nurse or whatever who escorted me back said wow they must have lowered the standards for lapband... first of all I didn't know what to say but then I thought how rude .. I said well they must have lowered the standards for nursing school as well.. she just stomped off.. I mean really how does anyone especially in the medical profession have the nerve to say something like that... anyway she didn't know me from Adam and didn't know how many years I had fought my weight and developed diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure in the process so as far as I am concerned people who say rude stuff like that can KISS IT... 5 intelirish, bluegirly, jfc193 and 2 others reacted to this
kll724 3,055 Posted October 12, 2013 I know what you mean, sometimes I just don't. It has been almost 4 years, so many people don't know that I have it, because I met them since I lost weight. Many don't remember the "fat" lady in the choir at church. I don't ever want to go back, so "yes" i do need it! Best wishes!
tmanning 4 Posted October 12, 2013 To me thats a compliment. I would just smile and keep it moving. There is no need for a reply.
