Question for the long-term banders...

Hey all,

I was just curious how the lapband has changed you emotionally/physically. Also do you still constantly think about what you are eating and what will go down or does it just come natural after a while?

I am almost 19 months post-op, if you count me as a long term bandster here is my take on it all. I still think about being banded when eating out or at other peoples homes. I can eat mostly like I did before. I can't eat rice, Pasta or bread but I can eat all kinds of meat, veggies, and most fruits. I eat small heathy meals, when I am hungry, if not I have something to drink and enjoy the company. So, yes I think about my band, and what I am eating, but it's not an obsessive thing. I try to make smart choices, and go from there. I didn't lose 100 pounds in a year, but I am almost at goal and love my band. ~Mandy

Eating more slowly and choosing the right foods is more natural to me now. I'm not constantly worrying about the lap band.

But I still think about my weight, food, what I'm going to eat, what I'm not going to eat, how far I'm going to run etc constantly. I'd love to just not think about those thigns at all.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
