unbroken40 31 Posted October 11, 2013 Did anyone else have this problem after surgery? I I'm in so much pain on left side right where the port is. It burns and aches anyone?
terrydumont46 1,954 Posted October 11, 2013 it is a common problem this soon after surgery. ice has helped some. also don't forget to take your pain pills you still need them. if you are worried about infection the signs of infection is fever, redness and increased swelling. if you are scared, call your surgeon. you will feel better soon. wish you well 2 ☠carolinagirl☠ and unbroken40 reacted to this
Sharpie 3,306 Posted October 11, 2013 I would make sure you do not have any infection.. however the port area is sore after surgery for awhile. this was my largest incision and it took a little longer to heal... as always check with your Dr. to make sure everything is normal... make sure you are taking your meds and don't strain yourself getting up and down.. use a pillow for support... hope you feel better soon... 2 unbroken40 and ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this

southernqt 236 Posted October 11, 2013 I had my surgery in April and to this day if I pull too hard it will hurt for a day or so, but it has to be real hard that I pull. The pain will go away but it took my port site about 4 weeks for the constant pain to go away now I only hurt when I strain that muscle too much.

unbroken40 31 Posted October 12, 2013 Where is your port located? Mine is my lower left side by my abdomin. Below a belt line.
southernqt 236 Posted October 12, 2013 Where is your port located? Mine is my lower left side by my abdomin. Below a belt line. Oh okay. My port is above my left boob and my scar is between my chest and left underarm. That's why it felt better to me to wear a bra lol!

fee139 63 Posted October 13, 2013 I am having left shoulder port aches as well to the point where I have to take Tylenol I was wondering if this was normal it didn't hurt as bad the first few days just these last two!! I had the left shoulder pain that was very painful more so than anything else. It is the vagus nerve that runs from your diaphragm to your left shoulder and it gets irritated during surgery. A cough, a hiccup, and a burp would all make my shoulder hurt. Ice packs helped the most and it finally went away after about three weeks.
