Our pics being used in the media?

Recommended Posts

I stumbled onto this article by accident and was more than a little shocked to see "Before & After" pictures directly from LBT were used in the article.

I'm just curious if the people in the pics were asked their permission before they were used?

I've seen some of those pics before? Can't recall all the names but many post here regularly.

Did you see the 5:2 diet at the end? That's a joke. Eat what you want 5 days a week and only eat 500 calories a day for the other 2. Gee, I don't see any red flags there?

I recognize some of those people, too. If they agreed to have their pictures used- awesome. But if they were used without their permission and/or knowledge, that's a problem.

I would hope permission was given, but this type of thing is why I don't post any pictures of me on this site. My choice to have surgery was a very personal decision, and I pick & choose whom I share it with. There are a couple of people on here that I'm friends with on Facebook, but we don't discuss our surgery openly on that site. In the internet world, nothing is sacred

We probably signed away our privacy rights when we signed up for this site? I'm OK with it cuz I'm not part of the "witness protection program", yet :D

Want to get really riled up? Read some of the comments left on that story. Not very nice....as usual.

I wondered the same thing. Usually if there is anything even remotely relative to us in the media, he makes a post about it to share it with us. I don't remember anything ever posted about this article here.

What? OMG! I just had a cousin shoot before pix for me -- could not load them as that part of LBT is down right now along with the blogs. Wonder what the retooling is about but mostly now I'm wondering if those pictures were used with permission. As for comments, I try not to read them even in NYT on-line, etc. -- makes me lose faith with mankind. You know what Linus said in Peanuts, "I love humanity, it's the people I can't stand."

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but when you post on an open site like this pictures or otherwise, the post is there for the world to see, use, do as they want. No permission needed. You can secure pictures so they can't be copied but not on this sight.

That is the life of open internet forums. Not private at all.

Haha one said that bigger people caused the price of food to increase....after I saw that I really saw how ignorant those comments really are. So people wanna talk about bigger people but also want to talk down about them when they try to do right....excuse my language but if a person doesn't agree with my decision they can kiss my big and soon to be not as big ass. That's just my opinion. Lol but I do wish we could have a bit of privacy on this kind of website but it's like Facebook, employers use it before hiring someone. No privacy on the internet anywhere.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
