Dr FLOCK QUIZ

Recommended Posts

I was told that I have to take a pre-op quiz with Dr. Flock. Does anyone know what kinds of questions will be on this quiz? If i don't pass it they will postpone my surgery on March 20th. Please let me know if you have any feedback.:help:

I've never heard of such a thing. He needs to tell you what to study though. Otherwise, every person who came in to the office would fail.

I just didnt know if they were only going to to ask about the nutrition info the nutrionist provided me or if they were going to be very technical and start quizzing me on questions like "what is a carb made up of..."

Good luck with your surgery Mattie. I am sure you will be fine! I am being banded at Norwalk Hospital. Who is your doctor?

Yah, Don't sweat it. Like I said its lap band 101. My doctor is Dr Nadzam from New Haven, I just went to my finial meeting before surgery, about nutrition and exactly what the 5 stages of diet are going to be and what I need to have at home after surgery. Do you have date yet?? I'm getting kind of nervous as it gets closer.

My date is set for March 20th. I took the quiz today and your right, it was a piece of cake (no pun intended.) I understand the nervousness your experiencing. I have been swinging from really anxious and excited to completely hysterical and depressed about how different life is going to be. I just keep thinking that no matter what this is for the best but I can't help but feel terrified all at once.

You just hit the nail on the head thats exactly how i'm feeling, i even think is this really going to work or is it another ditch effort on my part and its quite alot to go through for another failure. The range of emotions is killing me. Well i'll difinitly let you know how it goes to try to ease your mind. Be well.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
