Need some Help!

Recommended Posts

Hi, I was banded in February 2013. I had been doing pretty good and lost 30 lbs. It seems here lately that I am just not able to lose any weight no matter what I do. I try to make healthy food choices but when I see that I'm not losing weight by doing that, I get discouraged and want to just eat everything in sight. I haven't been able to do very much exercise due to a foot injury. Any advice would be greatly appreciated because I'm so scared that I'm going to end up gaining all of my weight back and I soooo don't want to do that. Thanks!

Weight loss comes down to math- when you burn more than you consume, you lose weight. The simplest way to assure that happens is to track your calories so you can be sure you're not accidentally eating too much.

If I were you, I'd start tracking calories.

Best wishes.

I agree, tracking your intake can really be eye-opening!!! Also, could you need a fill?

We need more info like how many cals you consume. You are an emotional eater, so if things are not always on the losing side you temporarily give up. But in reality that is precisely what ismaking you maintain or even gain weight. You have to push through. Also, evaluate things like exercise or lower intake to startup your loss.

Tell us more about your intake (food choices and calories)

Right there with you with Foot issues.. I haven't found anything I like doing in the exercise category that helps.. I had Achilles Tendon Surgery and its still slightly tender and sore, .. But I do agree with the above.. Track your calories. I was amazed what I put in my mouth. Thinking" Oh its not that bad", when It really was.

I hope everything works out well for you soon.,. :)

Iam having problems getting some foods down. Tonight had fish sticks and tater tots baked but 1/2 fish stick and 2-3 tots got stuck. Pbing it all up. After relaxing an hour I felt better and got some skim milk down. I'll have hopefully later a prot smoothie. When keeping cals I was getting 600-900 cal. So I know about how much I can eat. I'm checking out a fitness center tomorrow. Oh and ive not had a fill yet. Last month doc said I wasn't ready yet but 11-3 I go back in to see. I'm losing very little but take alot of pills about 18 a day and at least a few are weight gainers. So I'm fighting that. I'm 63 so I do have alot of health problems and limits on how to exercise. But I'm willing and in a good frame of mind that this will succeed.

If possible exercise in a pool, it takes the weight off your joints, check local YMCA's

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
