What does full feel like?

Recommended Posts

What does full feel like with the lap band? When I say full, I mean not to the point where you get the tightness in your chest. I'm having a hard time telling or maybe even just scared.

Actually, you should never feel "full" with the band. If you're eating until fullness you're likely eating too much. With the band, you should be eating until satisfied or no longer physically hungry.

Have a look at this link, it'll help: http://drsimpson.net...estriction.html

I have never felt full after lap band surgery.....I simply cannot continue, and/or loose all interest in continuing.....if I was even hungry in the first place....

Well I would be the one to say I feel full. It is the same exact thing as the above posters describe. But I use words like restriction and full because it's how I define it (as well as have been educated to express those feelings)

Fullness to me is when you eat enough food that it sits in the upper pouch and you know you cannot eat another bite without risking regurg/vomit. It's just a heavy pressure on the stoma and that's when iI stop. When food is inhte upper pouch, the vagus nerve is pressed and it sends a signal tothe brian that you are satisifed/full.

Don't pay too much attention to the language, rather focus on the sensation (and than define those sensations you deem fit)

I'm 8 months out, and I still struggle with this. I'm really trying hard to pay attention to soft stops (sometimes I'll get a little hiccup, or I find myself taking a deep breath), and when I hit that soft stop I know I'm 'full'. As far as what it feels like, the best way I can describe it is that I'm just not hungry anymore. If I kept eating, it's not because I physically need more food, but I'd be eating just to eat. I find when I get a true full feeling, I've had too much, and am uncomfortable. It's a learning process, that's for sure.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
