I am bout 10 months post op and last weekend I had a terrible stomach flu which involved me vomiting quite violently for a full day. It calmed down and stopped and apart from shoulder pain which I get on and off occasionally and a little bit of port pain which again I get on and off, I have had no pain, the thing has me worried is that I have gone from having restriction to nothing at all. I have no reflux or trouble keeping things down but I am worried my band has slipped can anyone help?

Seeing that you were vomiting for so long, if it were me, I'd contact my physician to be checked. Every time you have a fill, they check to make sure it's properly placed. I hope all is okay!!!!

Call your surgeon! And in the future, call your surgeon ASAP if you start vomiting in the future. I've decided to have Emetrol at home in case of any nausea or vomiting, until I can get meds from my doctor. Best Wishes :)

If your band slipped you would know it because you would not be able to keep anything down. However call your doctor.

Not necessarily. Everyone is different and symptoms of slips can differ from person to person.

I am coming up on my one year anniversary of surgery to correct a slip. I requested an upper GI just for my own peace of mind and my surgeon ordered it. I'm very pleased that everything is just the way it should be and now I have that peace of mind!!

Yeah, peace of mind is priceless. I just had a GI swallow and an endoscopy. All is well, and I'm at peace.

Slipped Lap-Band symptoms

+1

The most common symptoms of a slipped Lap-Band is inability to tolerate solids foods as well which mainly include vomiting and gastroesophageal reflux (GERD).

You can have a slip without any symptoms, actually. It's rare but it happens.

You can also have a slip while still keeping things down without an an issue. In fact, some people can actually eat more because of a slip.

There is no one-size-fits-all. There's a huge array of possible symptoms.

Most common symptom and a blanket statement that with a slip you can't keep anything down are two different things.

I'm speaking from my experience of having a slip serious enough that it required a second surgery, but I was able to keep food down and didn't even have GERD.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
