Weight Loss Post Band

Recommended Posts

I'm wondering what people are losing weight wise after having the band placed but before they get their first fill. I haven't had a fill yet and feel I can pretty much eat what I used to. I've tried to be healthy and change my ways and I'm not eating like I used to. But I still feel I'm not losing. I lost during the "liquid" phase pre surgery and right after surgery. But now that I'm on to regular foods I'm not seeing the scale move nor am I ever really feeling that full feeling. Anyone else experiencing this?

Are you still within your first 6 weeks following surgery? If so, this a time for healing and any weight loss is a bonus. The focus right now isn't on losing weight so don't get discouraged. I went through the same thing! Things will change. If you are out of the 6 week window, I would see about getting a fill. Good luck!

Well, I first have to give the disclaimer "Experiences Vary and my experience may not reflect the average person" but I lost more weight before getting my first fill. I lost about 24 lbs before getting my first fill at 10 weeks post-op. I lost another 10 lbs before getting an unfill because I was a little too tight at about 18 weeks post op. After the unfill, I think I lost another few pounds but then it all went to hell in a handbasket after that. I'm busy picking up the pieces at the moment. You pobably do need a fill, though. The NP said some people need a really big first fill and some people don't need one at all. Are you drinnking with meals? This makes a huge difference in how much you can eat so make sure you AREN'T drinking for at least an hour afterwards.

I don't remember exactly but I believe I had lost about 10-15 lbs. I had also gained back 7 of those lbs before my first fill. Fills really make the difference. Good luck.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
