A Yay and a Nay

Recommended Posts

Let's start with the "yay!": I weighed in this morning at 248.2!!! I have been dying to get under 250 for about 4 months so that was so exciting!

Now, to the nay  : Will I ever learn not to eat in the morning, especially gulping it down???! Not feeling well this morning due to Migraine issues (I'm blaming it on the tropical mess), I drove through Starbucks to get a tea. Then, I see that they have new menu items, one being a whole wheat spinach deliciousness. I order it which probably would have been fine if I ate normally but, no, I inhaled it (probably since I hadn't eaten much in the last 24 hours due to said migraines).

I get to work and spend 15 minutes regurgitating (lovely since the whole office can hear) and get sent home. Now, I'm lying in bed nursing my tea and kicking myself for doing this again. I know it's a learning process but I'm usually a quick study and I am frustrated with myself!

Oh well, I am going to just bask in being under 250 pounds!

Well to me your best bet would be to stop patroning fast food restaurants at least until you are at goal. I don't care if they make sugar free, fat free, no calorie things it is still processed food. It is easier to make your eggs at home and know that they are real then to buy from a fast food joint.

I'm always on the run, I work 10 hours a week, drive 60 miles a day I have 2 kids in college who have to be shuffled around because they don't have their own cars at either end of the Island...and well I'm just not cooking a meal at 8:00 at night.

That said I don't find fast food places to be bad. I get grilled chicken breasts and salads and other things from the drive through. The difference is....I do not consume them while I am driving.

I wait till I get to a place where I can sit, and prepare them. If I get a grilled chicken sandwich I am not going to be eating it like it's made. I take the chicken off the patty toss that and then cut it up into mini bites with a knife and for and sit and enjoy the meal. Occasionally I add a side salad to it depending on my level of hunger.

My hubby has made the mistake of trying to grab and eat on the run. That's a no go. So now he follows the same pattern as I do. Grab the grub, and wait till we are out of the car in a food designated area to consume it.

There are times, when you are so hungry and you just don't have the time to even do that...and for those days I keep Protein Bars in the car and in my bag for eating on the run. I still try not to eat them while I'm driving, but maybe before I head out or once I get to my destination and have the car in park.

I would love to be able to always plan for meals and cook them and have the time and place to relax and enjoy eating them, but that is not always workable with my lifestyle.

I have learned the band is a tool and you have to find your way to work it into your lifestyle to make it work for you and it is possible.

Congratulations on the under 250 -- that is awesome. And so sorry about the Starbucks episode. Hope you're feeling better. I am not banded yet and of course I worry about just this kind of thing. We eat so fast in our society -- inhale is the exact word for that. I think you really nailed it on the being too hungry part (sorry about the Migraines, eek!). There's that saying, HALT. Never get too Hungry Angry Lonely Tired. And hey, you got a day in bed with a cup of tea! Feel better soon and tell your sub-conscious mind to get busy filing this one away for the future. Best wishes!

Congrats under 250! I remember what that felt like. Now the nay: been there, done that. We are slow learners sometimes. I read that taking that small bite , swallow, then wait a minute before the next bite. I know. Easily said. Here's what helps me after that bite I sing to my self a little minute nursery song. Or lyrics Anything too slow me down. Good luck hope u feel better.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
