FurEllie 0 Posted February 28, 2007 I started my 1 week pre-op diet 2 weeks pre-op because I knew I was going out to dinner last weekend. I didn't OVEREAT but I sure as heck enjoyed it. I have a family dinner the Saturday before I leave on Sunday for Mexico but I can eat salad and no one will say anything. They don't know, but will be happy to hear I'm "on a diet" Oddly, on the liquid pre-op diet, I'm gaining weight - must be last weekend's dinner
FurEllie 0 Posted February 28, 2007 Silry, I wish I hadn't taken Dr. Miranda's advice on eating the "light meal" of carne asada - it was terrible! The meat was almost inedible to me it was so full of fat - yuck! I did eat the rice, Beans, and "cactus paddle" which was actually very yummy! It tasted like a cross between artichokes and asparagus. I wish I had gone out for a nice hearty steak! Oooh - so Dr. Miranda will let me have a last "real" meal? Any suggestions on where to go in TJ?
anonemouse 1 Posted February 28, 2007 I've had the "last supper mentality" since November, when I decided to go ahead with surgery. Luckily, I have gotten sick of pigging out, so I have definitely slowed down. I am trying right now to eat good foods, and to be honest, they are usually more satisfying than the crap I was eating before.
pinky12202 0 Posted February 28, 2007 I was scheduled for surgery Jan, 16 and i pigged out, a lot. I ate a lot of spicy and fried things and that combined with stress led to severe gastritis. I had to postpone my surgery till June. My advice, watch out, it was NOT worth the agonizing week of pain i went through.

Lap_dancer 8 Posted February 28, 2007 I know that nothing anybody says will convince you but you can and will eat your favourite foods again - only this time not in excess and they wont have the hold over you they once did. There is no need for you to have it "one last time". I felt a bit the same but for me, my new life started the day I said to my surgeon that I wanted to go ahead with the surgery. My last supper was tinned Soup and toast, lol. Thank you for this. I just want to experience a meal and feel "full" like a normal person does.
Ms. Vicki 0 Posted February 28, 2007 I went through this Last Meal Syndrome too. For me it began about 30 years ago and every day I ate like it was my last meal. The night before surgery, I went to FuddRuckers and had a HUGE burger with fries AND onion rings.
Txblue_eyedqt 0 Posted February 28, 2007 I think I had the "last meal" syndrome the whole last week before my surgery!! I too used Dr. Spivak and besides my weight I was very healthy as well, I didnt have to do a pre-op diet either.
Bikergirl 0 Posted March 1, 2007 I actually had my last meal without realizing it or it may have gotten ugly - My DH took the kids and I out to Pappas, I couldn't eat it all so I got a to go box - the next morning I got up and ate it - I went to my pre-op and they said only liquids tomorrow. I thought nothing of it and went about my day, I did go to Popeye's and Sonic (Tuesday Night Special) - Had 1 piece of chicken, 1 hamburger. Today I only got to have Clear Liquids.< /p>
