I am over 2 years post op and have been through a divorce, moved 1/2 cross the country leaving my children and mother behind. So I have some depression issues with that...but overall - I've "fallen off the healthy eating wagon"....and need help to get back on. I had lost 80lbs after surgery...but after moving, I haven't really followed anything specific. I have a hard time eating some foods - they come right back up within 5-20 mins. I know I need to see a doctor, but there aren't any in my immediate area - the closet is 90miles away. I didn't have insurance for the longest time....but now I do - but don't even know if insurance would cover due to the "pre-existing condition".

Any advice for me to get back on track? I hate that I did so well and it's all blowing away. I need help/suggestions - anything! Thanks

Louise

I think there is a law that prohibits not covering pre-existing conditions. Check into it.

I'm sorry to hear about all that you have been going through. I know for me emotional eating is my worst!

When I am stressing big time I tend to lose weight, when I went through my divorce pre-band I lost 45 pounds. (but I also broke my foot and had to hop around for 2 months on crutches! That's a work out let me tell you!)

My best suggestion to you is to give yourself some TLC. Go back to band basics like when you first were banded. Try the 5 day pouch test/reset to start. You can find it in posts on the site and online as well.

Find a doctor that you like as your PCP let them know your banded, then find a bariatric doctor and make an appointment. Don't let your insurance company tell you no!

It's all in the way visits are billed and if your having an issue, then it should be covered.

Best of luck to you, sounds like things are going in a better direction for you already!

If you are bringing up the majority of what you eat, then your priority has to be getting into a bariatric surgeon. No amount of "getting back on track" is going to help you if your band is having issues. Bringing food back up isn't normal and you need to address this issue before anything else.

Best wishes.

Hi Louise, so glad you are here -- how about calling the insurance company first thing and getting clear on your coverage so you can get the health care you deserve. What are the foods you're not tolerating? I am pre-band and have learned so much here -- mainly how different we all are. Maybe your body is trying to tell you something. Sounds like you've been through a lot and are coming through the other side. Best wishes for all good things to come!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
