Best thing I've ever done for myself, I'd do it all over again only sooner, no complications, yes it changed my life. I eat better now, I'm healthier, thinner get out more and I like how I fit in my clothes.

Welcome Abby. The band is the best thing I have done, also. I am off all medications. I do need to take Vitamins and minerals that the doctor tells you to take. I take prescription colace and Miralax because of BM problems but I had those before the band, also.

I can now walk without having to sit and rest. I go to BJ's and can walk around the whole store. Once I forgot something my mother needed and because it was at the back of the store, she didn't get it that trip. Now I love walking and window shopping every where. I go to the gym, not as much as I should but I do go. I live in a 3 story townhouse and think nothing of going up and down all the time where as before I tried to limit it to 2-3 times the whole day.

I hope we can all convince you it has helped us all a lot.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Arlene

Hmmm, I have not banded yet. It will happen in the next 4 to 8 weeks. I am curious about the BM's. Will there be issues with Constipation or loose stool after surgery? Will it ever balance out? And what can I do or buy, before surgery, to help me during the days immediately following surgery?

Hello Abby! I have found this site to be very helpful in my Quest to be a bandster. I spoke with my case manager yesterday and my surgery has been pushed up. Thank goodness!!! So, I will be joining the holiday bandster bandwagon. My surgery date is scheduled for Dec. 17th and I am so excited!!!! It works out well bc my students will be on holiday break & I will be recovering. No one will suspect a thing! Now, when they see the change in my weight they will not be the wiser to think I had WLS.

It was the best thing I ever did. I was banded four years ago two weeks before christmas and I did not miss all the holiday eating. Its not about food anymore but about spending it with loved ones. You all will succeed just follow the plan your doctor puts in place for you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
